we see a lot of dan ward website reprints here...

Don't squander your hard-earned reputation as an independent web forum on dan. He's not worth it.
If you want to endorse a candidate, say so in a publishers editorial blurb.

There are alot of pro Ward articles posted on this websites home page. So this website is now under the influence of one mans opinion?
I thought this was a forum of opinion and fact of all who use it but Mr. Tricoli,(who I see writes most coloums on the homepage)
uses the home page of your webstie to futher one persons views, not that of Western New York.

The front page of the WNY Forum does not jibe with this discussion board much!

Maybe a different site like Voy Forums for example?

OK OK i caved to peer pressure. I removed those post but they weren't up there as a advertisment for Ward. Why did you jump to conclusions that was an infleuence to the boards? I wanted your comments on the articles that were written. The guys running for office and i wanted you comments on what he's stating.. I looked for anything from giambra on the web and there's not much.

I shall defer to you and take your statements as they are.

It is good that this space is here and is not some shill-forum like whistlerblowers..

I looked for anything from giambra on the web and there's not much.
Yep, any incumbent can just point to his record whereas a challenger has to display a list of promises. makes sense.

WARD’s 2020 VISION
By James Tricoli
Oct 24, 2003, 12:56

Just what is this supposed to be? It this journalism? Is it a reporter (Mr. Tricolo) summarizing his investigation into the platform of Dan Ward? If so, how did he arrive at said summary? Is it a piece of campaign propaganda? It it a mission statement from the Ward campaign? It it what Mr. Tricoli would like to see Dan Ward implement? Or is it none of the above?
It appears to be an abstract wish list written for and by no one in particular. if that's 2020 than I guess I need glasses!

crum,

To me, the article looks like what the title says... WARD’s 2020 VISION; written without opinion or sway.

since I'm in this thread...

I don't feel this site is endorsing any one particular candidate. The Erie County Executive race is a big one; we all knew it would be.

but, I know that both channel 2 and 4 are both "event based" news programs. Most of their coverage goes where the story is. Ward is the flavor of the month, so it appears a lot of the articles here are based on what's hot and happening... which at this point seems to be Dan Ward because (it seems) Joel Giambra is using all of his publicity spots on TV commercials rather than the printed media.

I just read that 2020 vision. It is mostly borrowed from other people. The part about shipping was in the Buffalo News last week. Some guy working out of his stationwagon came up with this idea and is marketing it to the Niagara partnershio right now.
He also sounds like he is for consolidation "Consolidate Programs: Establish a truly countywide IDA and terminate predatory, competing local IDAs. Consolidate economic development programming by offering financial incentives to local industrial development agencies to coordinate efforts with the countywide program." "Share employees and administrative functions, etc. Consider a closer linkage between the county’s Department of Environment and Planning and ECIDA." If BNE fails to produce, divert scarce economic development resources to a revitalized countywide agency that generates results. There is alot more wrong with all of this . How it sounds like hire locals is a call for the unions to get on his side (which already are but strengthens their choice).

AS I said once again this site isn't endorsing either person. I wish we had someone that could come up with something good or bad about giambra from his side of things.

Yes Jim writes with his opinion sort of in the stories. I acutally just want facts on the site and let the people decide who is a better choice. Personally I dont like either person running.

Giambra has no experience period. I dont consider a lifetime in politics something that is required to run the county or buffalo. Look at western new york as it is, do you really consider the politicians of the last 25 years good at what they do? I dont.

Just from people in general, at least 20 to 30 all i heard about giambra is him and his cronies and how he hired up a lot of his friends etc. I dont know if it's true but the rumors might have some truth.

Look at ward. Sounds more like hillary sound bites. I have personally sat and listened to board meetings in wny. Dan did stick up for the residents on numerious items and I personally heard him zing other board members and amherst workers for stupid items. I did like that part seeing he pointed out some common sense items that were no brainers while the other board members tried to justifty thier stupidity. Everyone should go to some board meetings in the surrounding areas, you'd get an eye opener why WNY is the highest taxes area. WOuld he get elected and then say, "Hey people with the county vehicle hand over yoru key it's over?". Will he not use the SUV giambra has? They are paid enough to buy what ever vehicle they drive to work.

Honestly I would like to see about 25 real business people group up and just white wash all the little "wanna bees" off the town boards. Not some political appointed control board.

Use thier experience to replace the politicial departmental superivisors in each town and clean house. We all know there are some very good employees but all in all, a good portion are not.

If your not needed your layed off, if you can't explain why you have the job your laid off, if your have a drinking/drug problem you are fired and if your salary exceeds what is given in the private sector you are laid off or your salary is lowered. Plan and simple.

It's not the residents duty to back political promises politicans made to thier friends. It's also not the duty of residents of each community to guarantee anything to any town/city employee except a reasonable paycheck. Not gold plated health care and retirement.

Since when have you seen one baby born with a label on their ass that states "Get a goverment job and everything is covered"?

Ok off my soap box.

I took the article as from the mouth of Dan Ward. I wrote my reply not on the basis of the site backing Ward, but of my toughts on article and what I have read and heard other people talking about before Ward said it.
