Kurt Alverson, the long time executive director of the Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas, has announced he is retiring from the organization at the end of the month.
Alverson, 63, has been with the chamber for the past eight years and has also served as the president of the then-Buffalo Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Syracuse Convention & Visitors Bureau, Maryland state travel director and marketing director for the former Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce.
"I just felt it was time," he said.
The chamber has already begun its search for a new executive director and hopes to have a person in place before Alverson retires.
