BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- Suicide bombers targeted Shiite pilgrims in the south and police recruits in central Iraq, and a roadside bomb killed five U.S. soldiers, bringing Thursday's death toll to at least 130 people in a series of attacks as politicians tried to form a coalition government.
The two-day toll from insurgent attacks rose to 183, reflecting a dramatic upsurge in bloodshed following the Dec. 15 parliamentary elections. Some leading Sunni politicians accuse the Shiite-led government of condoning fraud in the voting.
Iraq's prime minister denounced the violence as an attempt to derail the political process at a time when progress was being made toward including the Sunnis in a new, broad-based government and thereby weakening the Sunni-led insurgency.
But Iraq's largest Shiite party, the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, blamed the violence on Sunni Arab groups that fared poorly in the elections. SCIRI warned that Shiite patience was wearing thin, and it accused the U.S.-led coalition forces of restraining the Iraqi army and its police forces.

Let's not call them what they are - Terrorists!
They have a government in place and a few don't like it. Instead of going to the polls and convincing the public they have a better plan they send in terrorists to kill the elected and general public who don't want them in power.
Sounds just like what the dems would do if they could.

You dont need to be a member of Al-Queda to hate George Bush. Fact the majority of people on this planet hate Bush. Fact the majority of people couldn't give a hoot if he was assassinated. I certainly couldn't. His whole administration is evil & corrupt.

In a fit of madness, apparently, a Guardian columnist is advocating the assassination of President Bush.

Oh, I get it know. We're playing the "Draw a Ludicrous Conclusion About a Large Group of People Based on A Few Extreme Examples" game.
Ok. So now it's my turn.
Catholics are child molesters.
Republicans are cocaine addicts.
Except for the ones who are oxycontin addicts.
Men are serial killing rapists.
Conservatives bomb OB/GYN clinics and kill doctors.
Conservatives have sex with dogs.
Hmm. That wasn't as much fun as I thought it would be. You can keep your game.

For those that think this war is bad in terms of the number of troops that have been killed or injured , one need only to look back in history on this legendary battle:
http://www.cdli.ca/beaumont/somme.htm
I wonder what the public would say these days if a President were to say to the people that we have been attacked and need to go to war to defend our Country, but within the first 24 hours of the start of the War, our side would suffer over 20,000 killed and wounded. I wonder if the American Public would have the stomach for that kind of War

Nonsense, as usual. If you're going to make blanket statements about Democrats based on a couple of fringe examples, then fair is fair... I get to judge YOU based on, say, Fred Phelps (the guy who pickets military funerals), or Rick "yeah, I had sex with a dog, so what?" Santorum.
Are you sure that's what you want?

I do not!

I don't know you personally.
It is your belief that I challenge.
Not you the person. Hell! You just might be a fine individual.
I will get on your nerves and you on mine but I will still disagree.
Most of the time!
(I'd bank that if I where you.)

It's a little too late for your "hey, I'm reasonable even though we happen to disagree" act after claiming Democrats would send terrorists in to kill our elected leaders and our general public if we could.

I don't choose to make ridiculous generalizations about large groups of people based on a few extreme examples. You're the guy choosing that ground, not me.
Too bad, indeed.

The beauty of this whole thing is you have both found common ground,
You agree to disagree and that's a step in the right direction.

Yes, the movement is gaining momentum. It will not be stopped. See how easy that was.
Two completely opposite views not stooping to immature personal insults. They just attacked each others views.
Although, I am in the corner of Johns viewpoint here. It is more rational. (Notice I didn't call LH, irrational or even his view for that matter.)
Keep it up, sports fans!!
As for the olive branch: speaking in metaphors and parables is acceptable but only effective in the mind of the poster.
