Recently the Senate voted on a amendment to repeal the DC Gun Ban (http://www.nraila.org/News/Read/NewsReleases.aspx?ID=12167), which had been struck down by Heller, but the city still places restrictions on firearms ownership. Even though I don't live in DC I looked at the vote results (http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=111&session=1&vote=00072). The amendment passed the Senate 62-36.

Our Senator Gillibrand, who I thought was relatively pro-gun rights voted "Nay." Is she swinging away from being a "Blue Dog Democrat" to the left to get support of NYC anti-self defense folks?

Looks like Senator Gillibrand had a major change of heart on many issues since becoming Senator. According to this article (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29418123/) in the MSNBC news:

Ms. Gil [noted] that the senator was particularly expansive when describing her newfound zest for gun control and a moratorium on immigration raids.

Great. I was relatively happy when I thought we were getting a Blue Dog Democrat as a senator. Now it appears Senator Gillibrand has swung wide left and is all about protecting illegal immigrants and "controlling guns." Sad. I guess everybody has their price.

Typical Liberal Democrat. They say what the people that they are talking to want to hear. They cannot make decisions on their own. They need to be told how to vote by a consensus. These are the people killing our Country. :(

If you caught the article about her in a Sunday Buffalo News when she was recently here, Len Lenihan said that since she represented a right wing district in the state as a Congresswoman, now she represents the entire state and has to vote for all the people.

Shame on him for his attitude and shame on her for changing her positions.

Maybe this was the plan all along, the condition upon which she was selected for senator, that she would flip. You have to know by now that Patterson would have appointed someone that would vote just like himself. Why would he choose opposite of him?
Please rememeber this when Gillibrand and Patterson's terms are up.

Gillibrand's district ( from when she was Conress) can't be too happy w/her. I am sure most of upstate is just as unhappy. However, the odds of getting anyone else in the seat are small -- we are overpowered by NYC in sheer numbers and she is the anointed one. Every Dem who wanted to run has caved. Anyone know who is going to try and run against her?

To be Honest, Meloney was going to wipe the floor with her as she is a die hard upper west side NYC elitest. However, Chucky and Obama gave her a call and promised her something lucritive to give in!

I was relatively happy when I thought we were getting a Blue Dog Democrat as a senator.

This is similar to saying, "I was looking forward to the lobotomy, until I realized I think with my pecker".
