Have you tried to buy clothes these days that are NEW. everything has been Vintage-ized. Worn frayed, splattered paint....

Our society is in such a hurry with so little patience that we can not even wait for our clothing to attain that beautiful lived in quality that makes them comfortable. We need it right away and we are willing to pay extra (quite a bit extra) to have some Chinese slave laborers put holes and splatter paint on our jeans for us. (can you imagine what the Chinese workers are thinking of America?)

Now I am not advocating going back to the days when a new pair of Levis was stiffer that a sheet of plywood...But, I think a lot of this pre aged stuff looks ridiculous. The aging does not even look authentic especially when every pair of jeans is identically aged.

I have a great appreciation for a great pair of comfy old and worn jeans but I like them to be worn by my body and my life not by some sand blasting machine.

PLEASE PLEASE bring back NEW new clothes!!

Besides that, if you want aged jeans or non aged jeans, the thrift shops have a ton--all kinds! And it goes for a good cause!:)

See we are talking about clothes but what is up with kids who can't wear the right size clothes. I had some future american in my shop yesterday and thier pants must of been 3 sizes too big. Even with his belt they still hung a few inches too low.

My jeans are now three sizes bigger, too.....but it has nothing to do with fashion....:(

I really hate wide-leg jeans and that seems to be all they have in the "juniors/teens" section. I like being fashionable, but can't wait for the wide-leg phase to end.

I miss Jordache! Remember when the slightest hint of fading occured, you had to get a new pair right away?

At that time, just a "mini" disco queen... I'm not that old (lol)

Actually Jordache came well after the disco era.

I never really liked Klien jeans.

Oh, but I don't mind the low (waist) jeans of today. Bleached style is okay, but the grundge faded wide-leg look I can do without.

I used to like the shrink to fits. Button fly. Stiff as a board.
Buy them two sizes to big and wear them on a hot day and swim in them.
When they dried on you they would fit perfectly. Once you broke them in you had them for years and there was nothing more comfortable.
That was when I was a kid in the late sixties early seventies.
I don't think they are around any more.

My daughter thinks the prices for the "distressed" jeans are a riot. We were at the mall the other day and a clerk asked her about hers. Her reply was "they're $15 jeans and I got the sandpaper to do this from my mom's toolbox".

I bet most kids today don't realize that jeans will age and fade over time and use. They think that you have to buy them that way or as your daughter did age them on purpose

Oh, I think they know. They just don't have the patience to wait. They're the "Life in 30-second Clips" generation.

One of the great american Icons, levi jeans. Too bad levi's are no longer made in the USA anymore. Offshored at the end of 2003.

Does that really work?

Yes, it does. But you have to be careful. She practiced first on a couple of pairs her brothers had outgrown that we had nobody to pass them on to. She wound up doing such a good job that the clerk in the store thought she had bought them. Boy, was he ticked when he found out she hadn't. He must've been disappointed at losing what he thought was a sure sale.

Thanks for the tip, I'm going to try it and let you know how it worked for me. This would make for good savings to stay in fashion.
