America's trade deficit with Canada hit $32.6 billion for the first half of the year, according to new figures from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
U.S. companies exported goods worth $105.4 billion to Canada between January and June of 2005. But American imports of Canadian goods were valued at $138.0 billion during the same six-month period.
Canada is by far the largest international trading partner for companies based in Western New York.
Only two countries posted wider imbalances in trade with the United States in the first half of 2005.
U.S. trade deficits reached $90.1 billion with China and $41.6 billion with Japan from January through June.
All figures cover trade in goods, but not in services.
