Here's a question for a Buffalo Police Person.

If a City employee is caught stealing City property who would acutally press charges? THis go for all WNY town employees also.

Is this something that if thier supervisor lets it happen there's not much one can do? or if there's proof can a resident of Erie County press charges?

I'm asking this seeing once the control board's hammer comes down you know there will be a lot of crap floating to the top. We start planning the most effective way to deal with this. I would hate for them to pay for another study on handling theft.

Plus, any Buffalo City workers or County workers for that fact, get your list ready if you know of wrong doing by fellow mployees. This is your chance to help the City and WNY to purge them from our tax rolls. DOn't worry if they are someones brother or patronage friend, the community is more important that a few employees.

Wouldn't you hate to lose your job but then allow someone not up and up to keep thier job?

They won't answer you. Just like a politician won't answer most direct questions. Seems they all think they are above the law versus the people that acutally pay thier paychecks.

actually nobody probably responded since it was such a stupid post. You have an internal affairs division and a district attorneys office to prosecute corrupt cops....you dolt

I know the answers to most of the questions i post on the board. But if you have noticed when issues do arise you dont' really see them handled accordingly. A lot of goverment types get a slap on the hand and that's about it. Perhaps if the slaps start turning into jail time a lot of the little thievery will stop.

A lot of it will be opinion on wrong doing. I consider wrong doing when someone works at a pace that is sometimes twice as slow as what average person would do the same task. Then that one person has to work over time to compete thier given task. Why allow that to continue in some positions? Thats not an employee that is worth what they are paid and not fair to the residents that pay taxes.

I consider all patronage theft. Period. If the position isn't needed but made up as a favor to get someone on the books that is basically stealing from the tax payer in my book.

Now when a county/city employee fits one of these descriptions who do you call? It's all a matter of opinion what a good worker might be versus a not so valuable worker.

My questions are acutally not that stupid.

And if you would like to call me a dolt, I demand some respect, it's Mr. dolt. :)

I apologize Mr Dolt:). I agree with your assesment of patronage. You are right on about that....If a taxpayer funded position was created for you just because your somebodys kid or nephew and your job consists of drinking coffee all day......then out you should go.However police positions are not patronage jobs.
You must also understand that patronage is everywhere and is also very prevelent in the private sector. Nobody seems to care about that though because it doesnt come out of your taxes. It does however come out of your pocket. The next time you pay an extra $2000 for that car...you can thank waste at the auto factory and with the teamsters and at the distribution center and the car dealership and with the insurance company due to everyone suing everyone for everything. There is a cost for everything in life......Its just so much easier to blame people working in the public sector....isnt it

Your are correct about the private sector when a dad hires is kid who can't get a job. BUT you know what the difference is?

That's his money to do what he wants and you don't have to buy thier products if you don't wish to.

Tax money is my money and your money. There has to be some accountability with MY/YOUR money. What would happen if a politician had a bunch of losers in his family he/she hired, would you say that's ok?

We need to start looking at what we are spending and what we are not getting for that money. A tiny bit of graft i guess could be expected but now with a world economy we need to sharpen our pencils. Am i mean sharp.

Taxes are like the stock market, altho we are forced to invest in it.
If the stock preformes like crap & there are scandles at the company we invest in. We take our money out and invest somewhere else. Hopefully with a better return.

Buffalo is full of scandles and mis-doings at the top on down. The performance is horrible so the residents take thier business and residences out of the city and move elsewhere in hopes of a batter return for our money. Better services, beter quality of life, etc...
Compare Buffalo to Enron or Martha Stewart if you wish.
