More than 2,000 people recently showed up for a tour of the Central Terminal. This indicates that people care about their city and that our business and political leaders need to grab some of that energy. Local D.J. Tom Bauerle promoted the tour, and to his credit, the response was another sign that Buffalo is interested in making things work for the betterment of all.
While some may not like the idea of a casino and legalized gambling, the Central Terminal offers a sensible venue for this kind of entertainment. The location has ample parking, is not in the high-rent district like the Aud and Convention Center and would provide for rail service to out-of-town visitors. The structure would allow the Senecas to have their casino and non-native Americans to use the upper floors for a hotel and retail.
The Central Terminal is just sitting there doing nothing. The people of Western New York are looking for leaders to take a white elephant and turn it into a commercial success. Do business and political leaders ever listen to their customers or constituents?
