View Full Version : IRS Reporting Requirements

The IRS has always had a limit for required reporting of 501 c 3 (nonprofit) organizations that allowed for nonreporting of those who made $25,000 or less. This year, however, for 2007 reporting season, the IRS came up with an easy reporting system for ALL organizations - an E-Card.

Previously, in 2001, 2001, 2005 and 2006, the WNY AmeriCorps Fund provided a 990-EZ form, twice asking for an extension, while all columns were either left blank or filled in with -zeros-.

The Empire Center for NYS Policy provides a view of all Member Items and lists a $25,000 distribution to the WNY Americorps Fund for food distribution services for the past two years (2008-2009 included in these).

Two questions:

1) Why weren't these funds reported?

2) Does the Town of West Seneca advance any funds to the food ditribution program?

No finger-pointing - just wondering...

So, the Youth Bureau and WNY AmeriCorps are one in the same?

I thought that the Americorp was supposed to separate from the town, but what you found is the opposite. How can an organization as large as WNYAmericorp not have to file tax returns and show these contributions? I don't understand how this can happen?

That's why I posted it - things that make you go "Hmmmmmmmmmmmm?"

Well, maybe "save WS" or "4the people" or "4WS" would have some answers. If not, Manuel has a hot line to ML, maybe he could get us some answers. I would like an explanation, if possible, because these are confusing times.

2008 donations to WNY AmeriCorps Fund, Inc should show on WNY AmeriCorps Funds, Inc's 990 report due in 2009.

The WNY AmeriCorps Fund, Inc likely did not list the prior funds because they did not apply for them and did not receive them.

Prior contributions and grants were to the Town of West Seneca. Prior to the split:

West Seneca Youth Bureau/WNY AmeriCorp/West Seneca AmeriCorp = Town of West Seneca.

Nope, guess they gave up on those. We have a new moniker, it seems.

Still my other previously question stands. If WNY AmeriCorps had the vehicle of the fund since 2001, why hadn't they used it for possible funding

1) Instead of using the Town

2) To supplement grants acquired through the Town

3) As a depository for events such as Fire and Ice and others

4) To foster partnerships through Individual and Corporate Gifts?

Rather than put the money in the not-for-profit, they deposited to Town accounts where it could be used to meet the Town's match requirements under the grants!! How short sighted. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm? You can say that again. Let's find some more FUD. Let's spread it far and wide till we are vindicated.

All I am looking for is the truth. If they are not guilty of anything, then fine. Why would they put money into town funds when it was ear marked for the 501(c)3? It doesn't make sense, because the grants specify what the match requirements are and where the money should come from. When a donation is made to a 501(c)3, it is meant for that fund not to go to the town.

Let's get these guys!! Who do they think they are? Bringing Federal Money to Western New York & taking credit for the initiative. It's not their credit to take. The Town backed them. The Clinton Administration came up with the money. The Clinton's deserve the the credit. Not the saps in WNY who thought it should come here. Even if they didn't do anything wrong, let's make it look like they did. ML has offended people. For that reason alone, we should destroy the program. When you are at war you don't worry about collateral damage. Least of all don't worry about the truth. It's about power. Take it away from him. It's about personal justice..let us offend those who offend us. The ends justify the means. I'm sure that they are guilty of something. They can't -- not be guilty. Let's expose their humanity.

If you want to talk humanity, go talk to all the people who were unfairly relieved of their jobs. People who counted on that money to pay their bills and put food on the table. What about them? Sure they were people without big egos who came to work everyday and did their jobs and were thankful for the money they were paid. But who cares if ML kicks them out the door without a reason except that they did not agree with the way things were being run. I don't think he gave them a second thought once they were gone. He didn't care if they couldn't make their payments and had to eat less. That's what humanity is all about. So don't use humanity and ML in the same sentence.

What we have here is war, not interest in town money, not for profit money, but someone's paycheck money, eh Snow White. No organization can exist with two masters. Sounds like you were odd man out Snow. Get over it. There are lots of jobs out there for competent workers. Not everything works out. Better still, start your own business, or non for profit.

The reason that they did not like the way things were run is because there was shady accounting and things were not done the way the grants were written. It had nothing to do with power or who was in charge. these people were concerned with the legality of the grants and the way money was spent. So don't twist my words to make it look like there was a power play in place because there was not.

I agree with Snow White. People were mistreated. Everyone deserves respect. People were disrespected. In turn, they have a right to punish those that disrespected them and the programs that they run. People are too busy running their own lives to get into the details. If we can make enough noise about AmeriCorps, people will no longer support it. Not because of the truth of any one allegation but because of the volume of accusations and the ferocity with which we fight. If we keep up the "Shock and Awe" we will eventually win the hearts and minds or at least give people that bad feeling in their stomaches that we feel because of the way we were treated. Ultimately, it is about how people feel. If we continue to sully ML, everyone will feel that he is dirty. I think that this blog can do to ML what the mass media did to us with WMDs. Let's keep it up.

Sorry, Snow White.

What I was trying to say is, as a human, he must have made mistakes. Nobody is perfect, especially, ML. He certainly made a mistake in not showing proper respect to people who at one time supported him and the program. At the very least, he is a bad manager.

Whatever flaws he has, its our job to amplify them. He made himself a pubic figure with all this do good'er stuff. Let's teach him and all the other do good'er to stay home. I don't see other Youth Bureau Directors doing this stuff. Let's show them all what happens if they "work out of title."

Nobody told him to do this crap. He volunteered. All the jobs he created weren't union jobs. They were entry level and the people had to move on after a year or two. We need Towns to create lasting jobs.

He is a civil servent. He is a member of the bargaining unit. He is out of line. Let's take him out.

I think I know what you mean. I think the rules TOS around here have not been enforced the way they were written, and I too have been concerned with the legality of some of the posts. I do not think I will go on a campaign against Mr. Res because it has not effected me personally. But you have gone on a campaign because this has effected you personally. What is the personal tie in Snow. Who is it. You, your daughter, your sister, who?????

You people have already trashed the programs at the Burchfield. Did everyone realize all town subsidy ceased with Andrew? Probably run out of money before next year's season. Nice going SW, OTR, GOC, etc. Keep up the good works.

Don't stop now. Vengeance is ours. Don't let Manuel scare you with the law. This is the wild west. A free for all. He is in the minority. He can be silenced.
He is not even Hispanic. He is trying to shine a light in the wrong spot. This is about creating FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt). Don't try and meet our arguments. This is a blog. Only MOB rules apply. Manuel thinks we are having a constructive conversation and are looking for information. This is about taking somebody DOWN. He is on the ground and we are putting the boots to him.

MYOB Manuel. We got your number:

O drive away the shades of night
And pierce the clouds and bring us light.

You think ML is a saint. They say Stephen, the first martyr was a saint. He was stoned. You keep stepping in the way Emmanuel. You are just gonna get hit with stones. That's the TOS.

I went to the benefit for St. Luke's Mission over the week end, and was telling a priest about SUWNY. His use of the language and symbolism, my guess is it must be him. A Clergyman who has direct knowledge of the works of Americorp, and the concepts of Christianity and forgiveness.

Adios.

Let's finsh this. I want to participate. I want my voice heard! I have been reading about this ML for a couple of years. Now is not the time to back off. There are wrongs to be righted. This can't go on. All this talk. This is a call to action. They are draining our tax dolllars. They are abusing the system. Don't let the man win again. You guys threw the rope over the tree. I just want to kick the stoll out. Don't go away now. This is the best part.

Manny, you are way off. We are not looking for mercy. We are looking for justice and we will define what justice is.
