After six years of planning, Gowanda community leaders will break ground Oct. 15 on Academy Place (http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/related_content.html?topic=Academy%20Place), a low-income, senior housing project.
A project of the Healthy Community Alliance Inc. (http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/related_content.html?topic=Healthy%20Community%20A lliance%20Inc), the $10 million project, at the site of a former elementary school in the Village of Gowanda on Center Street. In addition to 32 apartments for seniors, the site will include business and office space, a community center and a child day care and adult day care.
The housing breakdown includes 28 one-bedroom and four two-bedroom units, with 21 of the units subsidized by Housing and Urban Development. The project is slated for completion in December 2009.
