Here (http://hotair.cachefly.net/images/2008-09/palin-response.pdf) is Sarah Palins filed papers. Troopers work for the Govenor and they have every right to fire those that are insubordinate.
Given the facts, she had the constitutional right to fire Mr. Monegan and Mr. Wooten.
Good fire, Mr. Wooten is a sick individual and Mr. Monegan is only interested in his own future.

So it appears the situation with Wooten dates back to BEFORE Palin was office.
This is a cop who "was suspended for five days in March 2006, after state police commanders determined he had used a Taser on his 10-year-old stepson "in a training capacity," drove his patrol car while drinking beer and illegally shot a moose using his wife's hunting permit."
Regardless of who Palin was or it, that tool should have been fired for the incident of driving with a beer. Monegan should have fired him on the spot.
Even still, Monegan was NOT let go for this although I think he should have.
Non issue IMO.

One more thing. The democrats are saying that the entire family tried to get Wooten fired.
NO SH*T. The guy was a cop who tasered his stepson.... Find me one family that would NOT do everthing in their power to get an officer fired for that. You know...so he no longer has access to a TASER GUN!

Thank you for bringing some common sense on this failed try to smear Sarah Palin. It turns out that all the "charges" brought by the main stream media are false and unfounded. I'm surprised!

Did I miss something? This is a presentation BY THE GOVERNORS OFFICE in response to ethics charges. It is a MOTION, her side of the story. Not a finding of fact.
Admittedly, I have not read the entire package yet, it is clear from the tone of the legalese that it is one side of a story.

Just continue to follow the story and see if I am right! Eventually you too, will have to believe the truth.

The only fact that matters is - Did she have the authority to fire Mr. Monegan.
Given her reasons and the e-mails submitted with her motion she had plenty of cause to fire him.

If they knew about all of these things and thought they were so horrible, why did they wait until the divorce to bring them up and have him fired?
Shouldn't the tasering have been enough to go to the State Police at the time of the tasering?
(I'm assuming that this all cam up after/during the messy divorce. If this isn't the case then my apologies)
The firings, no matter how justifiable after the fact, stink of revenge for a scorned relative. It's as if his misdeeds were OK when he was part of the family, but not so much after things turned sour.
I know revenge is human nature, but...

At least she wasnt using State Police to spy on political rivals (see Spitzer) or to stand outside his hotel rooms while he transported hookers across state lines (see Spitzer again)!

Yes, but we're not talking about Spitzer, nor is Spitzer a candidate for anything, let alone an Federal Executive office.

My point was this "investigation" is nothing more than a sham. Look at the illegal activities Spitzer did and then look at the questionable-at-worst thing that Palin is being accused of.
I really do think people are desperately trying to dig stuff up on her. Is there some revenge factor in her decisions? Likely. But those two guys have a list of things to be fired for. I think people would be more upset if she let those two continue to have their taxpayer funded jobs.

Then why did Palin REQUEST an investigation in August?

Then why did Palin REQUEST an investigation in August?
Because the people trying to undermine her were spreading rumors. I think she wanted to reveal the information to show that there was nothing to the accusations.
Then when she was announced as VP, the media took the accusations as facts and made it seem like she was pulling a Spitzer with the Alaskan State Police.
Quite truthfully, if this is one of the biggest issues the Dems/media have with her, then McCain will win easily. I am quite amazed that Obamas huge lead in New York has shrunk to 5 points. Imagine if McCain put some campaign dollars into NY and visited a couple times. He could be the first Repub to win the state since Reagan and would certainly put him over the top in terms of electoral votes.

Oh, there is more out there, once you get away from the baby momma, tanning bed, per diem for living at home nonsense. (oh wait, that per diem for staying at you own home might be fraud. at least it would be if you were a federal employee)

Some highlights;
Of the 50 states, Alaska ranks No. 1 in taxes per resident and No. 1 in spending per resident. Its tax burden per resident is 2 1/2 times the national average; its spending, more than double.
Under the state constitution, the governor of Alaska has unusually strong powers to shape the state budget. At the Republican National Convention, Palin bragged that she had vetoed "nearly $500 million" in state spending during her two years as governor. This amounts to less than 2% of the proposed budget. That's how much this warrior for you (the people) against it (the government) could find in wasteful spending under her control.
Should put to rest some of this "Boy I wish she was Governor of NY rhetoric."

P.S. I watched her link Iraq to 9/11 as her son was going off to war. Another example of her lack of depth in foreign policy.

BorderBob,
You're a political lightweight. I knew it before, but mentioning the tanning bed is the real clincher. Run back to whatever website you get your talking points from and tell them they did you a dis-service again.
If clowns like you want to harp about a used tanning bed that she bought with her own money be my guest. Did the tanning bed cost as much as the $10,000 a year dance lessons for the lil Bama's?
BTW, where were you in the threads about Obama's underhanded tactics in Iraq or the Earmark thread? Didn't the website you lemmings go to tell you how to respond yet?

Actually, you fell victim again to a failure to understand the posting. Read the posting again. I am completely on board with the notion that tanning beds, baby momma's and the latest, racial slurs, as being the fodder of the blogs and an immature venue for picking a President.
But her record as a Governor and the misrepresentations of that record to the Republican faithful is absolutely material.
Oh, and linking Iraq to 9/11. Yikes, someone needs to teach her a few more things...

I read it again, and I still don't get the impression you were trying to say those things weren't important. I wonder why...
Take the largest state in the country with a low population and you'll have high taxes as a result. It's not rocket science.
As for linking 9/11 to Iraq I can easily see where you could pretend that is the case. I don't see it that way, and I think only hyper-partisans do. I took it as her refering to Al Queada in Iraq (Sunni's). I think had Obama said the same thing those on the right would take your position that it was a linkage, but it's weak at best.
See you over in the earmark thread, right? If not, I'll see you over in the thread about Obama trying to postpone the troop withdrawals until after the election. Nothing like playing politics with the troops...

She is a candidate for Vice President of the United States. No stone should be left unturned as it shouldn't for Biden, McCain, or Obama.
It does seem like this whole think is an Alaskan soap Opera. I can see it going on in a small town in the Southern Tier with a small time local politician. But Vice President of the United States?

I'd really wish they would decide on a reason and move on.... first it was insubordination, then it was difference in budget and oprations, then he actually quit and today it's he sought federal dollars for sexual assualt cases against earmarks, egad!
At least she's claining to be a Maverick and not a reformer, oops:o
