This is a bold step by the board. I think it's a Win-Win for the firemen and the taxpayers.

This is a very important study. The eyes of not only the Town of Boston; but eyes all over Erie County and NYS are going to be on the results of this study. I commend the Board for hiring a firm very familiar with Public Safety to review the operations in Boston. Just as this firm studied Orchard Park's Police Department operations, every other Police Dept in the area got a 'free review' of their departments.
It is very important for the board to hire a firm to conduct this, as the board is not familiar with mandates, training levels and ins/outs surrounding the Fire Service. This firm has to be well versed and researched to make an educated compilation of data; as it is their job. I am curious to know if the Emergency Squad Operations/Services are involved as well?? I think it would be prudent to look at them as they are a key component of the Emergency Services provided in Boston.
This is an opportunity for our Emergency Services to showcase their abilities, talents, commitments and show that the leadership present in these organizations lead some of the best assets this town has...it's volunteers.
The rest of the County will be looking at this study; and I think it is a great opportunity to show the rest of the county that we have Class A Volunteers in our community and we are confident in our abilities.

I believe the town board has those figures.
