I want to know why county employees have the nerve to protest that we need this increase but they won't protest against the operation of the county. Patronage, overtime abuse, over compensation of bene's and pension which are pulling WNY down.

I cant belive there are 9000 county employees. It is hard for me to fathom that there are so many that dont have the talent to make it in the private sector. I have no respect for Joel or the rest
of the 9000 loosers..I gues its right what they say those who cant
work for the goverment.

What I find especially amusing is that they wanted to target Giambra and only Giambra. It's as if they can't see how the everyone is to blame. Just bizarre.

They are all to blame. Even the one in my opinion who keep thier heads down and not say anything. Once people know can get away with stuff they will take advantage of the situation. It's human nature.

I have someone working on comparing the main differences between the two counties. We'll see what they turn up.
But thing that popped out at me when looking at both the red and the green budgets is the amount spent on "special projects". I think the entire county needs to submit to a public-outside audit so that we can figure out exactly what is really "needed" to provide the same level of county services.

Do you people remember a little thing caled the "Special Grand Jury Report" issued by Clark's office in the highway scandal ? That happened as a direct result of people not laying down or hiding but speaking out about abuses and the way Giambra's people conducted business. That protest the other day was against Giambra and the way he and his people conduct business , which is as usual despite that grand jury report . A lot of workers who testified during that process were issued lay off notices without regard to seniority , as were people throughout the Rath building who had the audacity to speak out or challenge the adminstration. All that evidence was given to members of the legislature and Naples from day 1 and nothing , absolutely nothing was done until the FBI got involved and it couldn't be pushed under the rug any longer. Wny, I admire many of your points made here and your efforts to change things but please talk to those workers and get some facts before you condemn people . You come across as a fair minded individual , please exercise that trait here.

If you saw the reports on channel 2 last nite on county patronage ask yourself just where that info came from . And check with wny politics and ask him how may hundreds of e-mails he has recieved from county workers since Giambra came into office . I think you will be very enlightened.

I'm not exactly sure. what you mean. I was pretty sure the info came from the budget itself.
Hopefuly as county workers are e-mailing in, someone is getting a listing of their contact info. We really should organize that support into something a little more organized and focused. Don't you think?

First Posting! I have read a number of different ones and the overall theme seems to be someone is blaming someone or some group.
We are all to blame. Taxpayers for continually re-electing the same "Representatives" and not getting involved. Politicians for grossly mismanaging taxpayer money. Unions for focusing on ever increasing benefits for their "members" without any thought of compromise.
Increasing taxes here is Erie County is a bad idea. We are already overtaxed, unless you listen to Big Mike of the local CSEA. He thinks we should raise taxes.
We, the taxpayers and voters, have a rare opportunity to force the beginning of the reform. We must stand together and get organized, like the politicians and unions.
If we fail, taxpayers will continue to leave, businesses will continue to leave. I guess then the politicians and the unions can fight over the dead carcass of Erie county.

I"m very fair minded.. I even openingly asked government workers to send emails in reguards to patronage and stuff. I got one that was weird like it was photo copied and put togeather with different pieces of type. Useless seeing there was no way to confirm who sent it or if it was factual. There is no way that a few county employees don't know about this site. If they know where the waste is just email us and we'll start to develope a plan to eliminate the waste.
There's ready a group that is willing to rip apart the EC budget. The nitty gritty crap.
You have to look around the community to know what we can and cannot afford. Waste though isn't one of them.

We are planning a meeting for march 5th. I'm personally not a good meeting organizer seeing in 40 years I never had to be. We will need a few people to step up to the plate and be the meeting organizers. So far we have one that is pushy as hell but that's a good thing in this case.
