A Canadian-based manufacturer has decided to shift operations to Wheatfield from Virginia.

Virginia One Inc. (http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/related_content.html?topic=Virginia%20One%20Inc) has agreed to move its Compact Mold East Inc. (http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/related_content.html?topic=Compact%20Mold%20East%2 0Inc) to the Vantage International Point office park in Wheatfield. Compact Mold manufactures and repairs molds for a number of industries including several firms with ties to the automotive industry. The company was formed in 1978 and had been in Chesapeake, Va. since 1987.

The operation is moving to be more centrally located to Canada and its customer base in the Northeast.

Virginia One, based near Toronto, will own the 3,000-square-foot slot in Vantage International Point while Compact Mold will be the tenant. Vantage International Point, which was built by D.R.C. Development, is an office and manufacturing condominium complex.

The article said that the company plans on creating 6 new jobs in the next few years, but didn't say how many jobs were transferring to Niagara County with the move from Maryland. Even if it were only 6 jobs total, that would still be 6 more that weren't here last year.

Yeah, if the company says it only needs six local people, some moron union will send six, then demand 12 more at twice the salary they are worth.
