Stock up on clothes next week!
'Sales Tax-Free' week starts Monday
New York state's bid to pump the economy begins Monday, Jan. 31 with another "Sales Tax-Free" week.
The designation means the state lifts its 4.25 percent sales on most clothing and footwear purchases costing up to $110. Counties and other municipalities are asked to do likewise and in Western New York, all are participating. Only a handful of the state's 64 counties will not lift the sales tax during the period, which last until Feb. 6.
The Retail Council of New York State Inc. reminds that the one-week period is the final temporary tax holiday scheduled under the current law.
