I have been thinking about purchasing some new baking products, has anyone tried silicone cookware? If so what do you think of the products? Right now I am really looking at muffin pans and maybe some of the mats that are used so cookies do not burn on the underside and slide off the cooking sheet.

I don't own them because I have a friend that did and she hated them. I do like the silicone pot holders though. :)

Great for baking...horrible for sauce pans and pots.

Silpats are a fantastic alternative to baking paper; accept no substitute.

Flexipans are very nice too, but are the most overpriced thing you can put in your kitchen. And while I'm at it, Kitchen Aid makes the most overrated products for home use- they're the Bose Audio of kitchen appliances- so if you're looking into those sorts of things, PM me for more information.

Silicone bakeware is wonderful! I currently own quite a few pieces. My favs are the cupcake "papers". They line the pans and you never have to buy papers ever again.
As far as the pans go, some can be too flexible. Oneida has a line out called "Harmony". The inner part (the part the food goes in) is silicone, but it has a nonstick metal frame for support. I love my Bundt cake pan!
As a side note: when buying any silicone cookware, twist it. If it turns white, don't buy it. It's not high quality.
