If ONLY we had leaders of Ike's integrity and diplomacy (with trusted, loyal subordinates), this nation would be so much better-
But those were different times (duh) and there was still corruption a'plenty
as Eisenhower barely touched on in his farewell address when he mentioned the military industrial complex which has become a marrige of government and-

Gilbert du Motier AKA Major General Lafayette...............Came to fight the British against a poorly armed militia , the colonists against the big , bad fources of the Queen's Navy & Army..............1918 basically we may not be here freely discussing our ideas as Lafayette helped to change the new world , esp. the western hemisphere..............
