What a cool thing to find today.
Looks like the birds were busy while I'm at work. I took these pictures threw the glass.

So anyone know what type of nest this is?

It's a pair of robins for sure. They were spotted this morning working on thier baby nursery :)
This may give you a better idea of the size of the nest...

I'd love to see that, Res. Last year, almost every time I mowed the lawn, a male robin followed along behind me & picked up the cut pieces of grass. A bird built a nest in one of my apple trees, but I can't tell what kind of bird lives in it.

I have a family of chicadees back in their bird house next to my bedroom window. I cant see in it to see the babies though. I put the house up high in the tree.

Res, the birds are adorable!
This, however, is kinda creepy...
For the past few weeks, we've had some squirrels that have been coming up on our lawn and porch and gettng a little TOO CLOSE to us. Not skiddish and peevish like most squirrels get when they are too close to a human, but boldly coming just RIGHT UP to us.
The other day I freaked because one came up really close to my one year old. My next door neighbor said that she had a psycho squirrel follow her up on her porch and nearly follow her in the house!
I said that someone on our street probably started feeding them or something. But it's a little out of control now.
How do we get rid of them, or make them stop "stalking" us?
That reminds me too how a few years back when I was pregnant with my first and we were living in a duplex we used to have what we called the "Berserker Ducks." There were ducks that used to live behind our duplexes and some young college girls a few houses over started feeding them. Well, it was never the same after that. Every time those ducks saw a human from then on it was full steam ahead as they chased us to our cars or followed us to our back doors. They'd come quacking and flapping as they chased us, hence their moniker "Berserker Ducks." One time I had my screen door open as I was cooking in my kitchen and I heard a tapping noise. I looked and saw one of the ducks tapping its bill on my door like, "Hey lady! Come on! Don't ya got somethin' for me?!" Another time we looked out the back door and saw two male Berserker Ducks humping one female Berserker Duck in the middle of the backyard lawn. It was disgusting.
Well, it could have been worse. At least it wasn't humans begging for food and having group sex on the back lawn.
Still, sometimes nature is cute but sometimes it is creepy.

Achbek1,
When we get these calls at work we recommend people to call an exterminator or check in your phone book or maybe penny saver for people who catch annoying critters and then release them somewhere else. My parents did this for a wood chuck that thought my mother's gardens were a salad buffet for him. :p Hope this helps
Or I could rent you my dog he got rid of all the squirrels in my yard. Haven't seen one in weeks LOL

I couldn't figure out why Momma Cardinal always seemed to be yelling at me when I was out on the deck......well today I figured it out. She was scolding me for letting the cats out because their leash let them get near this:
1919
How cool :D She built the nest in the bushes at the end of my deck where I sit & relax. I even trimmed the bushes a couple of days ago and never saw it.
The cats can't get to it either they are tied up. I can't wait till they hatch :D

One year a couple of sparrows built a nest on my brother's front porch. His girls and the rest of the family watched the progress from nesting to hatching then feeding. It was like having the learning channel in the front window.
Right up to the day a blue-jay showed up and evicted the occupants of the nest. Tossed the babies right out. Two sparrows learned to fly that day while a couple of robins chased the blue-jay away.
It was fascinating to see.
Of course that was the end of that nest.

Those are the best fed Robins in WNY.................
People spray thier lawns and kill a lot of the insects/grubs our while life normally would eat. What doesn't get killed carries the pesticides like worms and other crawly things. If there weren't on my sill I would not have gotten them meal worms. I figure I have to give them something for letting me take their photos :)

you are helping breed a race of soft robins who will be expecting handouts instead of actually working for their food.
in all seriousness, i wonder if it's uncommon for all eggs to hatch and survive? maybe it's because of the abundant food that they don't comfortably fit in the nest.

The Fluckers Meal worm suppliment isn't much. THEY are constantly bringing worms and stuff to the nest.
As far as the baby birds go all they see is mommy and daddy robin working their butts off bring them more and more food. I am not feeding the baby robins directly and I don't think the babies see me putting the meal worms on the lid on the ground.
The parents do seem used to me taking photo's as long as I don't move to fast.

They should call it a bird's life, not a dog's life.
It's mate, get stuck at the nest for awhile, work like a dog getting food for the kids, teach'em to fly, and start all over again. Sometimes 3 times in a season.
Although I know some humans have the same grind.
They get to fly wild for in between. And Buffalo birds have such a hardscrabble existence in the winter. Freeze in a bush someplace, and look, look look for food.
At least these little chubbies got all their nutrition.
