What am I missing? For weeks we've been hearing about the awful state of the Buffalo School District, and now I open my newspaper to read about Superintendent Marion Canedo receiving a pay increase of $30,602. This will be added to her pay of $155,000 a year.
Board President Jack Coyle said that her previous salary was, "Very, very much out of whack." Isn't the fact that hundreds of teachers are being laid off and children will no longer have extracurricular activities or class trips "out of whack"?

When will the administration realize that schools are not for officials to make as much money as humanly possible? Schools are for children to learn and grow in, to perform and create in. Not only are we allowing our city and our region to fade into non-existence, but we're allowing our children to go right along with it. For that, we should all be ashamed.

If you can't live on 155k in this area, you have a serious problem.

Maybe she can go out and get herself a real hairpiece now.

For 185k, she better start performing miracles.

Greed and it's an excuse to raise everyone elses salary below her position.

We need a leader for WNY, not a politician. We have enough of them and it's time to purge them from the system.

I have 2 children in private school and am pulling out our other son and going with home school for him. The super gets a raise while my special needs child is getting bumped into a 5th. school building by the 5th. grade. Pretty wild considering that we live in the same home the last 10+ years. No stability for our child, but a steady increase in $$$,$$$ 's for the "Big Shots" who are usless.

My child too has been shifted around the city from one school building to another year after year. She's been in three different schools in three years time because they keep closing the buildings she's placed in. It's a world gone mad, I tell ya!!!! We too are considering homeschooling because the educational system is failing our children!!!! Thanks for posting, I know now that I'm not alone in this situation.
