Has anyone seen the recent article in the Front Page regarding the sale of the land located on Ridge Road in the first ward? Mr.McCusker emphasized how the political arena is dividing the 1st ward.
Mr. McCusker took the stance on how the vote unanimously was passed for the sale of the land. Two weeks later, the council said they were wrong on the vote...
Mr. McCusker was spot on with his assertion that the council should stand by their previous unanimous vote....to do otherwise is nothing more than political wrangling.

Here's a scenerio...Let's say I saw a house for sale and put a bid on it, then was told that the house was "pulled off the market" for whatever reason. Several years down the road, the house goes back on the market and this time is sold to someone else. The question: Do I have a right to sue the real estate agency or the homeowners because I had bid "first?" Answer: No. Just because I bid on the house 10 years prior, doesn't authomatically guarantee me the right to buy the house now. For whatever reason, the house was pulled off the market. Right? A bid is just that...a bid. There was no contract. So, why all the fuss over city-owned property that was taken off the market and then years later was put back on the market? How is a "bid" considered a legal and binding contract?

Well, gibby, what would her husband have to do with the sale of any property? Prissy pants, jealousy at it's worst. And if someone is a racist, why would they favor either, it's between Arab Americans and African Americans, seems to me you favor the arabics, now that's racism! Closed sealed bids to the highest bidder, with bidding being open to the public on each lot. Fair for everyone, and city gets the best price possible! Just my opinion not ms prissys.

Question for Lackawanna 1: If I make an informed opinion about an issue and one community is Polish and the other is Serbian and I favor the Polish community from what you implied you would consider me racist right? Or does only apply if the groups are a different color? Or does that label apply only if YOU ASSUME the person in question has a dislike for a certain group of people? Please enlighten everyone on here with your wisdom on this matter!

Typical name calling response from you. Guess you can't answer the question because you can't comprehend very well.

All the name calling aside, what is the issue here? City-owned property. Right? There just doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to how the city-owned property gets sold. Racism and ethnicity and religion aside...the point is that our present City Council somehow get all caught up in politics and common sense kind of flies out the window. Isn't there a PROCESS in place as to how city-owned property gets put on the market? Isn't there a PROCESS in place as to how city-owned property gets sold? You can't change the rules in midstream. If there has never been a "highest bidder" type of program in place, I don't think you can decide to start now, especially with this particular land debate. Emotions are clouding the issue. A "bid" is NOT A BINDING CONTRACT, plain and simple. I don't pretend to know real estate law, but I don't see how any property that is "land locked" can be an asset to the party who owns it. Down the road, the ONLY ones who would be interested in that "land locked property" would be the 2nd Baptist Church since they would already own everything surrounding the Yemenite Benevolent Association building. Am I right?

The property should go to those who have the money and a laid out plan what they are going to do with the property, if they are just going to run it down like other properties then dont sell it.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The US Postal Service is considering closing dozens of offices, including five here in western New York.
The cash-strapped agency announced Tuesday it will study 3,600 offices, branches and stations for possible closing.
The "study list" includes the Broadway-Fillmore office in Buffalo, as well as branches in Lackawanna, Otto, Java Village, and Silver Lake.
Most of the offices that face review have low volumes of business.
Here we go again. Let's see who will fight for this land.
