Starship- We Built This City
Excellent choice.

As far as the Clapton song goes, yeah, the meaning behind it should make any reasonable person a little teary-eyed. I think the reason the song not all that good, is because it's by him, and he's a legend. For a Clapton song, it sucks.

FREEZING, nothing more than FREEZING
trying to forget my FEET ARE FREEZING.
Snowflakes falling down on my face,
trying to forget my face is freezing too

FROSTBITE, for all my life I feel it
I wish I had worn my UGHS ; I’ll never forget again.

FREEZING, wo-o-o FREEZING wo-o-o,
FREEZING .I want feeling in my feet again.

FREEZING, FREEZING, like I never froze before
And, FREEZING like I'm never going to again

FREEZING, for all my life I’m FREEZING
I wish I've never wrote this song, I’ll never write again

FREEZING, wo-o-o
FREEZING wo-o-o,
FREEZING
FREEZING feelings like losing circulation
And feeling like I'll never be warm again in my life.

Genre Outlaw country, Pop

"I'm Not Lisa" is a popular 1975 country and pop song by country music artist Jessi Colter.

[edit] History

"I'm Not Lisa" has been said to be one of country music's greatest songs of all time.[citation needed] It was first recorded by Jessi Colter in 1975. Colter, the wife of country singer Waylon Jennings, was trying to establish her own career in country music. She wanted to go into the category of outlaw country music with her husband and other artists like Willie Nelson and Sammi Smith. She had recorded numerous duets with Jennings before writing any material on her own. "I'm Not Lisa" was one of the first songs she wrote the music to. The lyrics were written by a ghostwriter. Colter liked the song and decided to record it under her label Capitol Records. The song was then featured on her debuting 1975 album I'm Jessi Colter. The song soon was released as a single. "I'm Not Lisa" climbed the country charts that year and went directly to #1. "I'm Not Lisa" also achieved huge pop success. The song reached the Top 5 on the pop charts that year and made a Colter a household name.[citation needed] "I'm Not Lisa" became Colter's signature song.

"I'm Not Lisa" was one of the early crossover country songs by a female artist, and Colter's only crossover hit. Lynn Anderson, Skeeter Davis, and Patsy Cline would also achieve country-crossover success during the 1970s. "I'm Not Lisa" proved to be one of Colter's greatest achievements. Not only did she write the song, but Colter also played the keyboard in the recording. The song has also been classified as one of the greatest hits of the 1970s, reaching many '70s compilation albums.

Cover Versions

Other artists have recorded the song. Most recently Nashville Star winner Erika Jo recorded a version of the song. She even released the song as her first single from her self-titled debut album, but it failed to chart on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks list. Even Waylon Jennings recorded a version of his wife's greatest hit. Other versions of "I'm Not Lisa" have been recorded by such artists as Rosemary Clooney, Tanya Tucker, Erika Jo, Marianne Faithfull, and Elizabeth Cook. None of Colter's later songs gained the success that "I'm Not Lisa" did. Her follow-up, "What's Happened to Blue Eyes", was a successful country hit but only reached #57 on the pop charts.

I'm not Lisa, my name is Julie
Lisa left you years ago
My eyes are not blue
But mine won't leave you
'Til the sunlight has touched your face

She was your morning light
Her smile told of no night
Your love for her grew
With each rising sun

And then one winter day
His hand led hers away
She left you here drowning in your tears, here
Where you've stayed for years
Crying Lisa, Lisa

I'm not Lisa, my name is Julie
Lisa left you years ago
My eyes are not blue
But mine won't leave you
'Til the sunlight shines through your face

I'm not Lisa

When I was a really stupid kid in the 70's, I thought that "Love Will Keep Us Together" by the Captain and Tenille was "cool"
until I grew up a bit and wondered HOW THE HELL DID THEY EVER CUT RECORDS LET ALONE HAVE A TV SHOW?!!?

"Muskrat Love?!" AieeeeeeeeeeeE!!!!!

A few of Abba's songs are really cool, but like
Donna Summer, regardless of how good they are,
they're DISCO
and disco is almost as bad as Rap and Country line dancing music!!!

Anybody like Goth music, like Bahaus' "Bela Lugosi Is Dead" or Marilyn Manson's stuff?

Did y'all know that ABBA was offered $1 BILLION to get back together and do a world-wide tour?
They refused, which is remarkable.

Because they're like 60 now~!!

And yes, but I'm more a Cradle of Filth type, although Rammstein's Barbie Girl is hysterical!!

Muskrat Love was an embarrassment, not only for C & T, but for the guys who wrote it (America). However...I liked C & T despite their questionable song choices. Didn't like their show.

Abba? Liked them, but hated "Thank You for the Music" - awful.

I admit my crush for Andy Gibb. :)

Never like The Bee Gees because they all sound like eunuchs (castrated);High-pitched, wimpy whining voices like nails on a chalkboard!!!

A few more terrifying tunes came to mind as I was writing about the ghouls Gibb:

"Sunny"
"Running With The Night" (Lionel Ritchie)
"Blue Velvet" (Bobby Vinton)

I don't see Anne Murray on here anywhere. Am I just that much older? I hope that's it because I just can't see anyone liking Snowbird.:p
And how about Helen Reddy? I Am Woman.

I like Helen Reddy actually...I Am Woman would be great with different lyrics (that everyone changed anyway if you recall)..
