I am very pleased to learn that Patrick (Pat) McCusker is running for Mayor of Lackawanna.

Pat is not the run of the mill political puppet. He lives in Lackawanna, and as Mayor will work for the people of Lackawanna.

Whatever happened to Tom Jackson who threw his hat in the ring a few elections ago? Retired PE teacher from West Seneca who lives on South Shore and has worked as a sub in Lackawanna Schools?

I posted this in a different thread earlier for you Lackcitizen:

Here are the things you are looking for to TRULY be an informed voter:

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to those that do not know me. My name is Patrick A. McCusker. I am making this announcement to declare my candidacy for the office of Mayor of the great city of Lackawanna, NY.
I was raised in Lackawanna, and graduated from Lackawanna High School in the year 1978. Much has changed since that time. The strength and resolve of the citizens has remained. As I raise my two children as a widower I see many of the challenges single parents must deal with each and every day. They are the same issues two parent families have; however I never imagined losing my loving wife to cancer in 2007. In 1983 we never imagined the city of Lackawanna without Bethlehem Steel either. The time has come for this great city of Lackawanna to take control of its future and leave the loss behind. We have a fantastic opportunity to use the resources here for the betterment of our citizens. If you believe Lackawanna can once again bring industry to our industrial areas, affordable housing to our residential neighborhoods, and business back to our commercial buildings; safety in our streets, fairness to all residents; Patrick A. McCusker is the person you want leading your city.
I spent eighteen years as a union ironworker, taking a leave from Ironworkers Local #6 due to an injury. As an ironworker I took initiative to serve as an executive board member for 6 years. During that time I was involved in two contract negotiations. I believe that experience in negotiating with the contractors will carry forward when the time comes to negotiate fair and equitable contracts with the union membership that represents our city. Negotiations should be a well thought out plan for the future that is fair and equitable to the labor force and also the taxpayers of Lackawanna.
In the year 1999 I was retrained as a tax professional, and hired at H&R Block. From that time forward I was very rapidly promoted to the position of district manager. Those promotions were earned through developing plans to increase revenue and control spending. As district manager I was responsible for 43 offices throughout Niagara and Erie Counties. My labor and management skills make Patrick A. McCusker the most qualified candidate to run this great city of Lackawanna!
In the coming months I plan to have town hall meetings throughout the city and visit as many homes as possible to get to personally know as many residents as I can. Please attend the planned meetings so the voters can make an educated, informed decision when they cast their votes.

Now that the Lackawanna School Board election has been completed, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the candidates on a well-run campaign. A special congratulation goes out to Dave Joyce, Ken Motyka, and Maureen Gambino on achieving the support of the voters to be entrusted with the responsibility of our school children.
In the next few months the voters will have another opportunity to give Lackawanna the positive future that we all deserve. I encourage the voters to listen to each candidate and make an informed independent judgment on whom they wish to lead this great city of Lackawanna. We will have choices to make for the best possible future for our residents, one and all. I wish the residents of Lackawanna the courage to discuss the issues in depth with friends and family
I have heard it said, ‘If you can’t pick the people up in your life, for God’s sake don’t let them take you down!’ The time is now for the residents of Lackawanna to let go of the old, outdated policies that have left our city behind. We must move forward with a solid plan to bring new residents into the city. We must drive new business into our business and industrial areas.
In the upcoming months leading into the primary election I will come to the residents of Lackawanna with my plan to drive industry into Lackawanna. I will work with the Department of Development to promote Lackawanna, and educate prospective businesses regarding the resources Lackawanna has to offer.
I will inform voters on my plan for the infrastructure of Lackawanna, promoting an annual maintenance of the parks, streets, fire and police, and public works facilities. With Patrick A. McCusker leading the great city of Lackawanna we will have a progressive approach to repair rather than a reactive system that causes catastrophic repairs to be done under less than ideal circumstances. Working with the Commissioner of Public Works, together we will be able to more efficiently manage the resources to effectively control expenses. Come join us on June 9, 2011 at the Lake Erie Italian Club to become a better informed voter. This is just a beginning of my plan for a positive future in Lackawanna, New York!
I look forward to meeting as many residents of Lackawanna as possible in the coming months.

POSITIVE IDEAS-POSITIVE ACTIONS-POSITIVE FUTURE

PLATFORM FOR THE GREAT CITY OF LACKAWANNA, NY
Pat has the plan for the positive future of Lackawanna------
Drive business back into Lackawanna;
Lackawanna will be an industrial leader once again. The director of development will be an aggressive salesperson for our great city. We will reach out to small business entrepreneurs and the largest manufacturers alike!
When we make Lackawanna an inviting city all residents will benefit from an increase in the property values!
City Services
I will work with the leaders of our fantastic fire department, police department, and public works to ensure a safe work environment, tools to complete their work load, proper manpower, and a budget that affords the infrastructure will be maintained on a yearly basis so as to avoid having to make emergency repairs after years of neglect.
Residents
Residents of Lackawanna deserve the best possible representation. As mayor of the great city of Lackawanna I will work with and represent ALL residents regardless of the political party they have chosen of their own free will to be a member of. At no time will I ask, nor research which party you are affiliated with. My approach will always be decided upon the issues and how it will affect the city of Lackawanna.
Recreation
Lackawanna has limited recreation activities. We need to keep that alive; we also need to add more recreation during the days for our children. Under my leadership there will be programs that bring our children together for a variety of activities.
I will work closely with the senior citizens to make sure their desires are met.
Grant Money
Lackawanna will actively seek grants for every aspect of the city, from recreation to roads, from senior activities to firefighter equipment. Nothing will be neglected under my leadership.
Leadership
Common sense will rule while Patrick A. McCusker is mayor of Lackawanna, NY
Neighborhood Beautification
Residents will be encouraged to keep their properties beautiful. The city of Lackawanna will set the standard with public land being improved with trees, flowers, benches where possible. City hall will reach out for neighbors as to how they wish for the vacant land surrounding their homes to appear.
Dilapidated Property
City hall will take an aggressive approach to removing properties that have been neglected to the point where they are no longer valuable. I will take advantage of laws and court rulings to effectively develop residential and commercial land.

Wouldn't it be interesting (AND INFORMATIVE) to have some sort of public debate? An "Ask the Candidate" night? An open forum kind of "meet the candidate" afternoon? Or perhaps the Front Page newspaper could come up with a few questions and invite the candidates to submit comments to be printed each issue?

If I'm not mistaken, the League of Women Voters are more than willing to set up and moderate any political debate. They did so during the school board campaigning awhile ago...sadly, only two candidates showed up (if my memory serves me correctly). I'm not sure who, exactly, contacted the League of Women Voters to set it up, but it was handled very professionally.

It certainly appears that 'lackcitizen' is attempting to bash Pat McCusker, but has nothing specifically bad to say about Pat.

Lackcitizen alleges that Pat is not himself, but fails to sepecify how Pat is not himself.

Regarding Lackcitizen's complaints about the $20 fundraiser; perhaps lackcitizen is unfamiliar with electoral campaigns. I could try to explain it to him, but I suspect he would just complain more about Pat.

I could discuss the cesspool of corruption that plagues Lackawanna or I could discuss Pat's determination to give the City back to the residents. I believe its more productive to discuss the latter.

the city was rezoned. check it yourself. Half of Colton Avenue is the 2nd ward & across the street is the 3rd ward!

North Side of Ridge where Sheba's is is 2Ward -District 5 where City Hall is is 2-5 Nason Parkway is 2-5.

South Side of Ridge to East Side of Colton and East side of South Park is 3 Ward District 4.

So the corners of Ridge and South Park are in 2 Wards.

On July 11, 2011, The Erie County Republican Committee endorsed a candidate to run in special election for Sam Hoyt's position for the 144th Assembly District. The candidate, Sean Kipp, was quoted as saying:

"If we keep electing the same old candidates to the state legislature, things are never going to change in Albany."

I believe that statement holds true in this upcoming Lackawanna mayoral and city council campaign...IF WE KEEP ELECTING THE SAME OLD CANDIDATES...THINGS ARE NEVER GOING TO CHANGE..."

I don't get to vote in Lackawanna any longer - but my family does. They will definately vote for McCusker - he is the only viable candidate that has not been tainted throughout the years. What have the others accomplished within their rein? Heh- I can probably change my address (just like most) and cast my vote too! How many live outside of LA and do that? I heard that Warthling has tenants in Lancaster that vote here, Love lives in Hamburg and the list goes on.....

We need to go in a different direction. Voting the same group back into office will result in the same old bull. The other candidates may not be the best but they are different than what we have now. Could not beat the machine on the vote for the school board but defeating the budget stopped some of the political junk that was going to come down in the school district. I realize it just baby steps but that is the way it goes.

Well so much for Pat Mccusker not the politician, his article in the front page speaks volumes.Hes a political hack just like the boys and girls he runs with. He is excluding the African American land deal from his article. He is being coaxed by Mingarelli and the boys to go with the Arabic land sale because they can bring the most to the table for him politically. He can care less who gets this land. Why all of a sudden is he worried what deal the council has struck. Where were you months ago Pat? Speaking of dividing the first ward, you have just done that! What African American could ever vote for you when you wont even give them a fair chance to bid on city owned property.

Here we go again! You obviously can't call anybody out on issues in Lackawanna. Why does Jaworski who voted for the land sale to begin with change his vote? Answer : Because he saw an opening in the African American Community for votes that's why. Political Hackiness at Lackawanna's Finest!

By the way I thought you and your group were with Geoff? Apparently your playing sides also since your with Jaworski on this one.

Here's 3 words for all you Political Experts and WANNA BE'S in Lackawanna "INTEGRITY", "MORALS" and "HONESTY"! Since none of you involved in politics seem to know what they are I'll put the definition up:

in·teg·ri·ty   /ɪnˈtɛgrɪti/ Show Spelled
[in-teg-ri-tee] Show IPA

–noun
1. adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.

Here's another one for you:

mor·al   /ˈmɔrəl, ˈmɒr-/ Show Spelled
[mawr-uhl, mor-] Show IPA

–adjective
1.of, pertaining to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong; ethical: moral attitudes.
2.expressing or conveying truths or counsel as to right conduct, as a speaker or a literary work; moralizing: a moral novel.
3.founded on the fundamental principles of right conduct rather than on legalities, enactment, or custom: moral obligations.

Here's another one:

hon·es·ty   /ˈɒnəsti/ Show Spelled
[on-uh-stee] Show IPA

–noun, plural -ties.
1. the quality or fact of being honest; uprightness and fairness.
2. truthfulness, sincerity, or frankness.
3. freedom from deceit or fraud.

When any of the 2 incumbents or anyone else involved in politics in the City of Lackawanna show any of these it'll be a cold day in hell. That is just my opinon and expierence over the last 20 years and I really don't care what you think about it! The truth hurts now doesn't it?

Agree or disagree.......glad to see more people involved in determining who is the best qualified person to lead Lackawanna! * It is NOT a personality contest either--it is about intelligence and strength to make the hard decisions for the good of all!
An FYI to all concerned citizens:
Jaworski held many of my Council Agenda items because he was too, (you can fill in the blank with wherever you stand), to tackle my proposals/questions......why doesn't/didn't EVERYONE do their homework on the city property or whatever issues, instead of pushing their hidden self-serving agendas? One of the major reasons Lackawanna can't belly up to the bar---unless someone else is paying of course. (What I mean for that is nothing much gets accomplished here due to the dirty poli-tricks.) Mr. Jaworski was on the Council when the same land was sold to the Church, isn't it ironic how some things come back to bite you on the ...?!

QUOTE FROM SALE OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTY THREAD: "Here's a scenerio...Let's say I saw a house for sale and put a bid on it, then was told that the house was "pulled off the market" for whatever reason. Several years down the road, the house goes back on the market and this time is sold to someone else. The question: Do I have a right to sue the real estate agency or the homeowners because I had bid "first?" Answer: No. Just because I bid on the house 10 years prior, doesn't authomatically guarantee me the right to buy the house now. For whatever reason, the house was pulled off the market. Right? A bid is just that...a bid. There was no contract. So, why all the fuss over city-owned property that was taken off the market and then years later was put back on the market? How is a "bid" considered a legal and binding contract?"

I dont bother putting to much up here because I truly believe that people like Lackawanna # 1 are nothing more than simple minded droids and no matter how much of the truth you show them they cant change. They will always have an agenda whether it is knocking someone down or trying to convince people something different about who they want in office because of their own personalm gains. With that being said I do however feel as if I must reply to this idiots remarks. I know Pat McCusker personally and I know that he has a high sense of integrity, he is not excluding the African American community or anyone else through his article. What he simply said was that it has been many years since the shafting that the African American community has received in regards to this same land and that it is something that they have had many years to complain about and try and right. The evening of the approval by the council there were members of the African American community present and not one stood up at that time and voiced their objections to this land deal, I know this because I was there. Now after the fact of a new deal being struck they want to say it cant be, and there are those on the council who are running for Mayor who figured hey I support their cause and get their vote. So now the council president wants to re-hash this again at a cost to us tax payers. Mr. McCuskers artickle simply said you cant correct one wrong by making another wrong, he is saying keep your recent agreement and try to make amends to the African American community by offering them some other City owned land at a fair price. I found these few quotes off the web regarding "Divide and Conquer"

""this is strange, i figured more people would have heard about this...possibly being put on the news. seems to be real.

without staying from the course, would some democrats please explain to me why they go around carving up our American society into disaffected "groups" so they can champion them in elections and get their votes? has anyone noticed republicans doing this?

it all seems dirty to me, to get the vote this way. seems to me like divide and conquer. is this responsible?

doesn't anyone think that politics should avoid "grouping" people into demographic groups and just appeal to everyone as citizens?""

Why if the African American church wanted the land first, and got hosed on the land deal , why hasnt pat stood up and said that the land should be given to them. I'm sorry, but I don't get "racist" out of the article at all. What I got was McCusker's berating the City Council for all their flipflopping and back pedaling, and pointing out that the city attorney has this sudden "conflict of interest." Why aren't people upset and screaming bloody murder over the fact that outside counsel is going to cost the taxpayer money...money that will not be recouped because the land is being sold to some nonprofit organization WHO WON'T BE PAYING TAXES. As a taxpayer, why aren't you demanding answers...like, WHAT CONFLICT OF INTEREST could the city attorney possibly have that would prevent him from representing the city who pays him?

Did you read "1984" in school? Whenever the government wanted to distract the citizens, they would create some sort of crisis somewhere else. As long as the people in Lackawanna are willing to get sidetracked with rumors of "racism," the City Council can happily continue to pass resolutions, spend taxpayer money like petty cash, issue million dollar bonds, etc.

Hey idiot, the term, "buy and sell" means "hire and fire". I was sure you wouldn't get it. I have secretaries to type my paperwork. Just a typo error. I'm 100 percent sure you've made them. The fact is that I respect people for what they do and not who they know. So what have done with your pathetic life? I AM PROUD OF MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND I DON'T OWE ANYBODY ANYTHING AND NEITHER DOES MY FAMILY. HOW ABOUT YOURS. Your part of the friends and family club that is a real special accomplishment. What did that cost you? PS Everytime you open your pathetic mouth just confirms that I am better than you are. You offer no substantive information which are your own thoughts. Just a stooge for family and friends. People like you think that they can bully people around. I find it to be rather boring. I told you before if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen....................
You have been found not worthy.

Now your playing the damage control game, His statement has nothing to do with Jaworski or who supports Jaworski. Why if the African American church wanted the land first, and got hosed on the land deal , why hasnt pat stood up and said that the land should be given to them. The sale of a lot next door to you, would not landlock you would it, no it would simply be used for something other than if you bought it. Being fair and objective is what a mayor needs to be by your own words, and you always bash the currnet administration about being a dictatorship, now when your boyfriend/candidate wants to do the same, your here to protect and say its something different. Let the land go up for auction to everyone who wants to bid on it and the fair price will be paid regardless of who gets it. it may even go on the tax role instead of being tax exempt the way Pat wants it to be. Your many personalities on this site represent the many you have in real life! So maybe YOU should wake up and be your own person instead of whom they make you be. Typical Tony Mingarelli move! Check!

Once again if you read my first line you will see how it applies to you and your ridiculous reply. His statement had everything to do with Jaworski now saying after the of approval that he wanted to sit down with both sides and see if some sort of resolution can be made hence you moron thast Jaworski himself is playing the political vote getting games. Now because of him he is going to cost the tax payers money. Once again why wasnt there anyone from the African American community that was in attendance that evening standing up and saying hey we wanted that land and you promised us that land before. Furthermore why havent they been saying that at every meeting when this was brought up. See no matter what is said to people like you the truth will never be seen. Also it sounds like you think I am someone who I am not but being wrong is habitual with you !!!

Do you not get the fact that they all voted yes and Jaworski changed his vote? Do you not see the fact that this land has been vacant for 30 years? Do you not see what INCOMPETENT LEADERSHIP leads to? The council is to blame for this thing along with the Director of Development. If this property was advertised properly on the web or by a real estate agent from the get go by him we wouldn't have this problem. If the council stuck to THEIR set standards about selling property we wouldn't have this problem now would we. This is what happens when inept leadership changes the rules for friends and family you get a clusterf*&^ of epic proportions. In his article Mr. McCusker called out the ineptness of the whole thing and was complaining about the cost of an outside council. As far as your racism comments go you just SLANDERED someone!

A quote from Lackawanna #1: "...Oh wait, I cant believe you havent blamed it on or dragged Makeyenko into this yet..."

How can you read my comment defending McCusker and saying that he was berating City Council over the city-owned property fiasco and come up with "Makeyenko"??? Even if you read between the lines and examine my comment under a magnifying glass, I'm sorry but there's no mention whatsoever to the Lackawanna School Board President. Smoke and mirrors. That's all it is. If the "racism" card didn't work, next you involve the School Board? Let's refocus, shall we...? CITY COUNCIL INSANITY is the topic.

As far as "rumors" go, again I'm sorry but how is reporting a VOTE on the City Council floor suddenly a rumor?

To quote an opinion in the News Tribute (Tacoma, Washington):

Here's a polite way to put it: Voters who've done their homework on the candidates and issues deserve a warm glow of civic virtue as they fill out their ballots.

A less polite version: Citizens who don't have a clue should either educate themselves or leave the job of self-government to the better informed.

What the writer was referring to was a County Sheriff's race in which 52,000 people voted for a CONVICTED FELON INSTEAD OF A PROFESSIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT EXECUTIVE. (All the writer could conclude was "maybe the voters liked his [the felon's] name."

"It's not hard to get educated. At a MINIMUM, citizens should read the the flyers and pamphlets delivered to their house. If a candidate doesn't bother to submit information, SOUNDS INCOHERENT, or seems GROSSLY MISINFORMED...well, consider VOTING FOR THE OTHER PERSON!

Disasterly UNQUALIFIED candidates can actually get elected IF ENOUGH VOTERS AREN'T PAYING ATTENTION!

With that being said: Pat McCusker is a TAX PROFESSIONAL, a Union Ironworker (18 years), a former District Manager of H&R Block, a youth baseball director and Little Loop football coach, an active fundraiser for Relay-4-Life...and, a graduate of Lackawanna High School.

I have to agree with lack...

I know a few people who go for some tax courses offered by H&R and then they do taxes at the HR office during tax season...

That doesn't make one a "tax/planning" expert. Not to be confused with real book keepers, CPA types...

I don't know who he's referring to so this comment doesn't apply directly to who he's referring to..

People fluff up on their resumes to the point of misleading...... it happens all the time and it is apart of human nature. Look into each candidates resumes and look for the fluff.. expose it because your kids futures are effected by the choices these people will make if elected..

Pat was the district manager for H&R Block for 43 offices throughout Erie and Niagara Counties, managing over 600 employees. Where do you come up with a 3 hour course Lack#1? You wonder where people get their information? UNINFORMED and UNEDUCATED voters are very, very dangerous to any election...and this is one perfect example of BOTH! How does one translate a District Manager for H&R Block of 43 offices throughout Erie and Niagara Counties, managing over 600 employees into one "3 hour tax course?" That's like saying that Sue S. should be in charge of the DPW Worker's Union simply because she's been driving her daughter to sports practices for years.

WOW, that is a big endorsement. The AFL-CIO is the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations. If I remember that far back it was covered in 5th grade history, or somewhere back then. With Lackawanna being so Democratic, that should get him a lot of support. I wonder what Geoff did wrong that he didn't get it as the endorsed Democrat.

To Lackawanna#1 and WNYResident and any others that really don't get it....

H&R Block is a reputable tax prep company. H&R Block has very high standards they stand behind. Any accountant/bookeeper knows it takes more than 3 hrs to learn about tax prep. Those who practice the business are trained constantly. Call 1-800-HRBLOCK and check on their training classes, do it soon as they are getting started now for the tax season coming up in January.

May I say many "CPAs and Bookeepers" from the outside take this same course together. If after taking this course, and you pass the exam, are interviewed, and it is decided you are hired, you will be expected to attend additional training. You will be mentored. You will be encouraged to bring friends and family and do their returns. These returns will be observed by your mentor. Every year you are expected to take a minimum amout of training hours to maintain and progress in your skills.

The IRS has instituted rules that some CPAs and Bookeepers haven't met yet, but H&R Block has. This is why many of your CPAs this past year had you send in your return rather than e-filing. Please don't be so fast to think that HR Block people don't know the tax business. Personally, in my years of service I have "fixed" some pretty hefty mistakes of local "CPA and Bookeepers". There are many levels of complexity to a tax return.

Pat McCusker's (see the spelling-this is the correct spelling) job at H&R Block, as a District Manager, was to oversee the operations in 43 offices, and answer to the corporate offices. He was very diligent on watching that the payroll was in line, people working when needed, and not when quiet. He kept operation costs down. He improved the quality of the offices. Many of his thoughts were adopted on the national level.

So Pat's job wasn't to "push a button on the computer" ---- and a side note, he is brilliant enough and capable to do any tax return by hand on paper, as he took the training classes too! As we all know, CPAs use a computer program to process, just as H&R Block does. It is having the knowledge as to what to put into the computer.

I tend to believe that H&R Block is a specialist in tax prep. A CPA is a numbers guy who has learned tax work amongst other things.

Pat's managerial skills as a Distrct Manager is the statement made in his biography. These skills would be an asset in the City of Lackawanna.

You think of how many of us pay our tax preparer to do our taxes, we sign it, and wait for our refund. We have no idea what we are looking at. Good tax preparers are vital and carry with them a great deal of knowledge.

And I had many CPAs do my taxes and the pro's at H&R found errors and got me more money back. The difference is they care about their clients - that's why I still go there.

I think Mr. McCusker's qualifications are just fine.

Came in to get my copy of the Front Page today and was amazed at all the billboards that have hit the city. I especially like the one of Geoff in his hard hat with a city worker looking like he actually gives a flying S&*t on how the city looks. A staged act of self-importance! I wonder if he wears that hat while walking his ward? He sure needs it over there to be safe from all of the condemned buildings falling down around him. I then glanced to my left and saw this refreshing bright SUNRISE ! Positive Ideas-Positive Action= Positive FUTURE! Now I LIKE that! Lackawanna hasn’t seen positive ANYTHING in a VERRRYYYYYYY long time. I stopped at my friend’s house and we talked about the signs located on Abbott and they also agreed with the McCusker sign. They said they wouldn’t vote for any other candidate especially ones that have been ruining the city for years. All of a sudden they come out saying they have all these great ideas for Lackawanna. What the hell have they been doing other than collecting a paycheck? So we laughed for a while about what a joke the Lackawanna politicians are. More and more people are now seeing through all the smoke that has been blowing up their skirts! VOTE McCUSKER for a new sunrise dawning!! Positive Ideas with positive actions will bring positive results!! 3545

This is what the Front Page edited OUT of Pat's article:

WHAT SUPPORTERS OF THE OTHER CANDIDATES HAVE BEEN HEARD SAYING.

Here are a few things supporters of other candidates have said about Mr. McCusker.

1-‘We have researched him and he is a nice guy. We don’t want to have to trash him.’ --A City of Lackawanna Department Head - Tom Love - Commissioner of Public Works

2-‘He is a good man, an honest man, a very honest man’. -- A relative of Charles Jaworski - Colleen Schnell

3-Hey Pat - First, good luck on your run for Mayor. I'm not sure if you remember, but we spoke several years ago when I was running for committeeman against Steve Horvath (2002, maybe?) and even after that conversation my brother and I were impressed with your knowledge and also your desire to see a better Lackawanna. Unfortunately, I committed earlier this year to Geoff Szymanski. With that being said, I am still the committeemen here in our area and if there is anything that I can do to help you along in the process, please let me know. It's a pretty big task and overwhelming at times and if people aren't willing to work with you it can be difficult. Regardless of my previous commitment, I know you're a good person and if you're successful you'll do a great job representing Lackawanna. Again, thanks for adding me and if you need anything please don't hesitate to ask. –-Democratic committeeman - David Iafallo

4-‘I’m very impressed with him, very impressed. ’ --A City of Lackawanna Department Head - Ralph Miranda - Director of Development

5-After the primary...have Pat sit with some of us...he is a decent guy.... a lot of people been saying that –retired police officer - Dana Britton

6-‘People are saying good things about you.’ – A Lackawanna City employee - Ralph Miranda - Director of Devlopment

I wish to thank them for their kind words. More importantly the voters of Lackawanna will make an important choice as to whom they wish to have on the General Ballot in November.

BTW- Dick- you haven't seen any pictures of me at the wedding I attended last night becasue there aren't any and as far as being "lit"....WRONG again!! one picture of me, the bride's mother and our high school friend....

Dicky do dicky do dicky do, how do you make it through mundane tasks such as brushing your teeth, tying your shoes, zipping you pants? You probably have velcroe on your sneakers. I saw Cathy with McCusker himself last night. They actually spent most of the night with the brides mother, at least when I noticed them. Actually it was a real nice wedding. I spoke with McCusker today. There was no apologizing going on. McCusker doesn't apologize for other peoples actions. I know he wanted to make it perfectly clear that the lowlifes spreading malicious rumors fully understood that it DID NOT come from his campaign. If they took it as he was saying he was sorry, they are showing their total lack of understanding simple concepts. THINK ABOUT IT IF YOU ARE CAPABLE. Who would benefit from the flyer going out as it did? Who has the financial means to pay for it. Do you think it was Andrea? Probably couldn't afford it. Do you think it was Ahmed, the Arabs probably have the money. Do you think it was Hank and the endorsed Democrats behind Fran and the good ole girls? Think, if you can, who has the most to gain by sending the truth out. With a four way race in the mayor race, do you think they would spend that kind of money on a council president candidate. Maybe you need to cease your favorite hobby, your eyes appear to be staying squinted all the time! Keep your hand half full..

Just heard what went down with some letter that went out about one of my opponents......
Good call had enough, by process of elimination about where it circulated from.
I do not hear anyone denying what the contents of the letter said.....btw, what did it say? I bet the truth. Or they would be coming after Catherine about the contents of said letter. Instead they are attacking Catherine personally in an attempt to discredit her character.

Does someone letting a renter live in filth without running water make someone a qualified candidate?
Does some one robbing the friendsip house make someone a qualified candidate?
Does someone selling bootleg dvd,s make them a qualified candidate?

Definition/Wikipedia

The term "cyberbullying" was first coined and defined by Bill Belsey, as "the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others."[1]

Cyber-bullying has subsequently been defined as "when the Internet, cell phones or other devices are used to send or post text or images intended to hurt or embarrass another person".[2] Other researchers use similar language to describe the phenomenon.[3][4]

Cyber-bullying can be as simple as continuing to send e-mail to someone who has said they want no further contact with the sender, but it may also include threats, sexual remarks, pejorative labels (i.e., hate speech), ganging up on victims by making them the subject of ridicule in forums, and posting false statements as fact aimed at humiliation.

Lackawanna #1 does slandering Andrea make your feel better, shame on you. Susan Bokan Staniszewski has enough baggage in her own backyard, need I say more. Voters Susan Bokan Staniszewski is going to be the front for John Makeyenko-School Board President. John has not gotten his own way with city hall regarding his own job and a job for Lisa Friend's son. Lisa also happens to be a present board member and a political backer of Mayeyenko. Under John the school district has been run into the ground. His interest has never been the children, it is to develop his own personal employment agency. Do you want to take this to the city? Think realistically tomorrow when you cast your vote.

Unfortunately, this thread has gotten way off track and has become a personal attack against Andrea. This mayoral and City Council President campaign should be about ISSUES. If you notice, when a candidate's "qualifications" are slipped under the microscope, items listed on their own campaign literature is highlighted and discussed. In Andrea's case, Lackawanna #1 has dug up RUMORS, half-truths, and taken things out of context and blown them up way out of proportion.

Accusing someone of MAJOR criminal acts without proof and WITH MALICE is out and out SLANDER. According to the legal definition, slander is a "civil wong" and is basis for a lawsuit. Slander is an untruth told to ruin someone's reputation. Being accused of something and even having to appear in court for something does not make the person GUILTY as charged. Accusing someone of something on Speakupwny does NOT make it true. In the case of many of the other candidates, the people who have brought up issues have also included PROOF either by posting actual City Council meeting minutes or other City documentations (i.e., property assessments, tax records, etc.).

This thread is about PATRICK MCCUSKER, who is running for mayor. Do you vote for someone who you don't know (as far as who he is related to, connected with), or do you vote for someone who has been in office for YEARS and the only thing to show for it is a rundown, crumbling, decaying, beat up, over-taxed M-E-S-S of a city?

Bob McCarthy reported in the buffalo news that collins talked him out of running so there would be less turnout in lackawanna. i guess they figured a low turnout would hurt poloncarz. then i hear that collins offered some jobs up if he didn't run an active campaign. then i hear he has been offered the second ward council position if geoff wins. then he is offerd either the comptroller or development from watkins. knowing mckusker i would think he figured it wasn't worth spending 8 or 10 thousand dollars adding 4000 to his under 400 votes he got in the republican and democratic primary, especially with watkins trying his write in campaign. drive past his office on wouth park and see whose signs he has in front. that would be a pretty good indicator of where he stands.

I ould see Collins doing that... Just shows if this is true McCusker wasn't for the people.. he was out for himself... Doesn't suprise me....Why would he even be considered for 2nd ward councilmen job? The guy wasn't even a serious political threat... If anything he hurt Geoff's run for mayor because the guys who were backing him are now backing watkins who has a hell of alot bettter shot at winning than McCusker did. I doubt Geoff and the Democrats worked out any deal giving him anything if in all actuality he is hurting them. He didnt need to be bought out because he wasnt even close to being a threat to szymanski team. McCusker did it to himself... Not knocking on doors and or being very active with his campaigning.. i hope john doesn't get anything... i dont even know why geoff would want him on board... i thought he would hurt geoff more then help him... Didn't john threaten to fire Geoff's cousin who is a nurse in the school district if he didnt get his last apointment at housing?

This is how it will play out IF Geoff wins....they are playing Mike Sobaszek and Greg Stachowski for the 2nd ward position. I think they are using Mike and will give the position to Greg. John Makeyenko will get his promotion in housing.....any bets out there????

How exactly does a person get that seat? just by apponitment or does a vote come from the council on whoever is nominated for that seat?

Fill it in... Write it in Dion J Watkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe the question should be what dion has been offered by forcing his supporters to do a write in campaign that most likely will not win him the election. the only thing it does is make it unlikely that mckusker will be able to get enough votes to defeat geoff head to head. maybe geoff was scared he would have to tight of a race if he went head to head with mckusker (how do yo spell his last name? mcc or mck) do you really think watkins can pick up the votes in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th wards to beat geoff? he got all he was getting in the primary. geoff will beat watkins by a margin of 2 to 1. lets see where watkins ends up, or better yet harvey. he has been pushing so he can get a job!

ALOT of Watkins votes were thrown out the first time around either due to wrong polling place, not registered, or not a democrat.. im not sure of a correct number but i have herd over a 100 votes thrown out.... Dion also picked up the parties who were supporting McCusker plus Jaworski... Its a bit more work your right... but he is a preacher and has alot of people believing in him pulling it off.... He was beatin by 15 votes... that is nothing.. Walt Seres wont be able to even pull 15 votes peroid.. i believe from what i am seeing this is going to be a tight race

What promotion can John get at housing? From what I hear he is just filling a temporary position because somebody is out on comp.

No kidding! So in the last 6 years what has the current second ward councilman and mayoral wannabe and the former second ward councilman and soon to be ex county legislator done to rectify the problem? You just let it go and not come up with any solutions or plans? Doing a half assed frontal rehab on a campaign hq isn't much progress either.:hopelessness: So let Dion win and promote Jaworski's sons, new rumor is Dion may keep his teaching and have a Deputy Mayor..in a city this small, what a joke and waist of money

Still bashing Dion instead of answering the questions I posed to you. Sounds like if you can't answer the real question you will just make up sh%t as you go along. Lackawanna Szymanski has a problem. NO RECORD TO RUN ON SO HE BASHES THE OTHER GUY. BTW that robo call my family members got this past weekend proves it. Clean campaign my arse.

So let Dion win and promote Jaworski's sons, new rumor is Dion may keep his teaching and have a Deputy Mayor..in a city this small, what a joke and waist of moneyJaworski has #1 son who was already promoted, maybe his son-in-law & brother in-law are next in line. His sister is on the city payroll also and she works full time at the Hamburg school district. His nephew also worked in the school but his position at the HS was cut to a .4 due to the failed budget and he took a full time position at another school district. Alot of people working in the city from one family I would say. And when Dion wins the election he will take a Leave from his teaching position just like Pordum & Kuwik did way back when.

Bashing Dion regarding his Hamburg taxes of $6000.

let me ask you a question. Did geoffs father license the house geoff lives in. legally his parents own the home and are not living in it. with the new landlord law, geoff is a tenant. the house should be registered and his parents are so called absentee landlords.

will geoff register the house he owns in behtlehem park or just let it sit there for a few years and then stop paying taxes on it so the city can take it over.

This quote just shows how clueless you really are. Dion couldn't have a deputy mayor unless the council approves and ammeds the city charter. So stop spreading the bs and get your facts straight.

He probably will just like the Poloncarz family did with their house on Victory Ave. Just let it sit vacant for years and then when it is to far gone have the city demo it with the tax dollars screwing the taxpayers even more!:hopelessness:
