View Full Version : Thank you South Town Citizen

I would like to thank South Towns Citizen for thier endorsment which read, "Pluta, a Democrat, has been a pillar of the community as a firefighter, and his expererience as an executive officer with the Patchin Fire Company gives him some solid background for work at Boston Town Hall".
I would also like to thank Jack Quinn for his kind words which read,
" recognize and commend James E. Pluta in honor of his leadership, courage and passionte service to the Town of Boston".
I'm a registered Republican endorsed by the Democratic, Conservitive and Woking Families Party.
I promise the residents of the Town of Boston that I will work hard and make our community a better place to live. I will bring to the Town Board the same passion and dedication as I have had to the Fire service.
I promise to always listen to the residents and be open to new ideas. I will always tell you the truth, and deal with you in a fair manner.
I promise to watch where our tax dollars are being spent and stand up and fight against wasteful spending. I will do my part by not accepting any raises while in office.
If elected to avoid any perceived conflicts of interest, my wife will not seek nor accept the job of Deputy Town Supevisor.
As Chief I have worked with local, County, State, and Federal Officials to obtain over $250,000 worth of grants. The Fire Company and I began the EMT Training Program in 2002. Our Fire Company has trained over 12 members as EMT's and 20 First Responders in an effort to supplement the Boston Emergency Squad. In the short time we have answered first aide calls, we have assisted many residents within our district.
As a Firefighter, I get involved with some of the issues related to storm water run-off by assisting and pumping out basements. I discovered that the Town of Boston hs suffered from drainage problems for many years, and my research has found that the town officials have not done enough in the way of solving this problem.
The Town Board needs to be more responsive to our Senoir Citizens. We need to encourage more Senior Citizen housing devlopement. Our Seniors deserve to be able to afford to live and stay in our town. The Board needs to be more supportive of our two senior groups and their resquest for funds for activities.
We have a great summer youth program. We need to continue to motivate and help our youth of the community year round.
I would like to see the town become more supportive of our youth organizations, like the Boyscouts, Girlscouts, 4-H Clubs, Town sports leagues, and the Fire Companies Explorer Posts. This could simply be done by helping to promote them. I also think it's time to look into a youth center.
I would like to control the development in the town and ensure that any new development enhances our town. We need to pass building codes that make commercial development fit into the rural and charming character of the Town of Boston.
I know that alot of these have been promised before. So why do we keep on voting in people who don't live up thier promise?
Isn't time to start voting for people who WANT to do the job? If the voters would look at the person instead of party affiliation we wouldn't be asking these questions.
Sincerly,
Jim Pluta

You must be referring to the primary where Mead and Piazza won by a landslide and Jim Pluta finished in last place, correct?
Confused and nasty, I think not. I may tend to overstate my opinions a touch, but nothing to hurt anyones feelings.
I don't think so, do you? :)

Many people have approached me in recent weeks asking why you are so nasty and their response was because she can be. Yes, opinions you are entitled to. However, when I am on this web site and it is dealing with election I don't use opinions, I use facts. When ever I am on this web site I have always given FACTS, not OPINIONS and your OPINIONS are of anger, hate and of ignorance.
You have put down a man who has done nothing but support his community and Fire Company and who does not have anything to hide. But, you will support a man taking out a huge loan then file bankruptcy so he doesn't have to pay it back. The same man who doesn't know the boundries of Boston. Support a Slumlord, and who was questioned about falsifing unemployment and who can not figure out how many years he has served. Well, with you that falls under ignorance. Your comments toward some one who does not think the same way you do falls under being nasty. But the funny part is that I don't write this on this web site to change your mind or a few others. I write this stuff because it is FACT and other people than you read this. So, please get over your self and stop being a COWARD who hides behind a screen name.

Dear sneakers,
I cannot control what the South Towns Citizen writes any more than I can control what you write. I'm sure they ment Endorsed Democrat. I thought you put every thing that I say under a microscope. If you had you would have seen in line 5 of my thank you letter I clearly state that I'm a registered REPUBLICAN endorsed by Democratic, Conservitive and Working Famlies Party.
If the Democrats are so bad why did Dennis Mead seek thier endorsment in 2003 and 2007?
Did you know that Dennis Mead ran as a Endrosed Democrat in 2003?
Why did Republican Chairman Dan Kummer ask to meet Democratic Chairman Bill Eagan earlier this year? Because he wanted to cut political deals with Chairman Bill Eagan.
As I stated before, the voters need to start voting for the canidate and not the party, maybe then we can get something accomplished.

All these things cost money. It is always “vogue” for a candidate to say we need to “support” (a.k.a. finance) different organizations but the money has to come from somewhere.
You have 2 choices
1. Take the money from somewhere else.
2. Increase the money (raise taxes) that is currently coming in.
As a candidate which do you do?
How much more taxpayer money should go into these groups?

Dear Jim,
I don't think I every said the Democrats were bad. Some of my best friends are democrat. (Even though deep down they are Republicans)
I think Mr. Mead seeked their endorsement because Mr. Eagan has run out of Democratic puppets in 2007. Thats not a bad political move, garnering more endorsements to secure more votes. Isn't that what you did?
As far as the meeting between the two chairman, I have no clue. But from what you write, it would appear Mr. Eagan informed you about the meeting.
Did you know the Republicans outnumber the Democrats in our town? With that being said, three democrats won the last election cycle. The citizens voted for the candidate, right?
So you are saying the democratic town board is accomplishing nothing?
And this after they gave you the endorsement?

Dear Sneakers,
As I stated before I owe nobody and didn't cut any deals for any endorsements. People may not like what I say, but I speak the truth. I believe that more can be done for our community. I don't liking blaming political parties for any shortfalls. I truely believe that we need to get past party affliation and look at individuals and elect or re-elect them on thier own merits. Ask the canidates what they truly believe in, ask them questions about what you see needs to be done. See if they give you the truth or a pack of BS. I have been hammered on this site, and yet I choose to come forwared and answer every qeustion truthfully ( I'm sorry that I couldn't provide you with a better answer on one of your questions, but I simply don't have all the facts). At least give me some credit for doing this, where's the rest of the canidates?
You and I may not agree on everything, and your probably not voting for me. But that is your right, and I respect that.
Thank You,
Jim Pluta

Dear Enough,
As I stated we need to be more supportive of our youths of our community. Alot of our youth have nothing to do. Unfortunally times are diiferent from when I grew up, my father worked and my mother stayed home. Most households currantly have both parents working and alot of kids end up having idle time. My thoughts are to support the youth groups of the Town, and I did say this could be simply done by helping to promote them. The Town has a wonderful web site why not allow them to promote them there? Why couldn't the Town allow some open houses in Town Hall and the groups putting on displays. Why couldn't the Town promote them with the Tax bills being sent out? The Town of Hamburg has a church with a very nice youth center THE HUB. Why couldn't we help foster one in our Town? These are some simple ideas that don't cost ( or very little cost) the tax payers.
As for the seniors, I think that they have payed thier dues (taxes) in the Town. For the most part many years worth, and thier request for funds should be looked at in a favorable light. We're olny talking a couple thousand, I know that a couple thousand her a couple there it starts to add up. But I still think that our seniors are a valuble asset and should be treated as such.
Thanks,
Jim Pluta

Jim:
I'm not trying to paint you into a corner here and I don't even know you but these are hot button issues used in every local campaign to encourage voter support.
Politicians will use terms like "seniors" and "youth" to garner support. What they don't discuss is their REAL STANCE on the issue.
You say, "We're only talking a couple thousand, I know that a couple thousand here a couple there it starts to add up. But I still think that our seniors are a valuable asset and should be treated as such".
So if it is a "couple thousand", it has to come from someplace.
1. Do you raise taxes to get those funds?
Or
2. Do you take it from somewhere else? And where from?

Dear Enough,
I view local goverments job is to deal with quality of life issues. This often becomes a difficult balancing act between holding down taxes and helping out the community. I have spent 22 years with the Patchin Fire Company, we raise about 20-30% of our budget through fund raisers. I know first hand how difficult it is raise money from fundraisers, but I also know the satisfaction and sometimes the fun of doing them. I would strongly urge all groups to raise funds on thier own before helping them. Really what I'm after is to get the youths of our community to be more active in these groups. I live across the street from a playground and witness first hand what idle minds can do.
If you're asking me whether or not I would raise taxes by a couple of thousand to help the seniors, the answer is yes. I would perfer to find savings in the currant budget first.
Thanks,
Jim Pluta

Once again you people are unbelievable, you continue to post stuff and obviously you don't know me!!! I'm Catholic; I received Holy Communion in St. Peter and Paul in Hamburg. I go to church and pray almost everyday for all of your lost soles. I sincerely hope that most of you go to confession every week for all the lies that you spew.
I would also like to address some of the other candidate’s lies. The picture taken with them and Jack Quinn and Dale Volker was taken at the Patchin Fire Companies open house. You should have seen them chasing Quinn and Volker and begging to have their picture taken. I, also know that Jack Quinn DOESN"T endorse any candidates in local races. I also have a picture taken with Jack and Dale at the open house. I could have used it like they did, but I have more integrity!
Did everyone see the most recent mailer put out by my opponents? They agreed and praised with the philosophy of the other parties. Can anyone tell me what they really stand for? Talk about an act of desperation! Dennis hasn't done anything in 3 terms and now says he can do something in the next term, give me a break! You talk about saving money, how about at least $70,000 that Dennis has collected from the tax payers for doing nothing?
People open your eyes, you have a choice between DO NOTHING DENNIS and candidates like me and Cathy Maghran. Cathy and I will work for you! We will put Boston before politics! Haven't we put up with career Politians who do nothing long enough.
