One of the things that interest me is what are the canidates going to do to make Boston a better place to live.
I have not gotten a visit to my door by 2 of the 4 canidates. The two that have stopped by were Mead and Piazza. When asked what they hope to accomplish, I got answers. Not all the answers I wanted to hear, and surely their job is to represent us, the taxpayer. Some dancing and prancing around my questions, but I let them squirm a bit. Then they might think twice next time they see me.
I have not had the oppertunity to get paid a visit by either Pluta or Magran to discuss what they will do for me.
I am curious to know what they are going to do to make Boston better.
I read the typical political slingers, with the typical jargon. What they have done, but I want to know what they will do. Then, if they fail to do what they said they will do, bye bye. That should be said for all elected officials.
That should be their report card, or employee evaluation.
I can think of 100 things canidates in recent elections said they wanted to do, and have nothing to show for it. That scores a big F in my book. Wasted vote. Note to self: No vote re-election time.
I am curious to know what this crop of canidates stands for.
Is there a live public forum or debate? I think someone should sponsor one.
What do you think?

If your Town has a local school, why not use that for a live debate? This way ALL the people in your community can attend and hear from all running. Have reporters and maybe a TV station or 2. The would have a hay day with this! I'm telling you, your Town seems like it needs a wake-up call about your politicians

How can you have a republican candidate who is endorsed by the tax and spend party and also by the conservative party give a straight and honest answer. They can't. Thats why you never will see a debate in town.
What do they actually stand for, I'll be conservative while spending your hard earned tax dollars on patronage and pay raises while I deplete the towns reserve?
Beats me.............

I think the Chamber or one of the civic organizations should host a "Meet the Canidate Night" just so people can see what the canidates stand for, and how they respond to questions from public scrutiny. I think it would be a worth while inevestment of time, rather then finding out what we elected is not what we thought. Otherwise, we will be stuck with a wasted vote for 4 years....and then try to make the change. By then, all is forgotten.

I don't believe Mead or Piazza would be up for that type of debate, (my opinion only) I know Pluta would not have a problem with it. As for Maghran, I don't know, I only support Pluta.

So if you support him, just exactly what is his platform??????????
Saying yes to whatever Democratic Chairman Eagan wants????????
The only literature I've received is pretty much a smear campaign against Mr. Mead. The voters don't like that.:(

I agree with regards to the smear. In addition, I am sure I would be proud of what I have done in my past. There is no refuting that. What people are interested in is what he/she WILL do, not what he/she has done. I have yet to see anything from anyone of the 4 canidates that say what they want to do to make the town of Boston a better place.

I am sure you got the invitation to the Fund Raiser for Paluto at the cost of $25 dollars a head in the mail. Maybe in between the free food and beer to lure the public he will explain what he plans to do. I wonder if he paid the hall rental fee for this Fund Raiser??? Since he is the chief maybe he is exempt from the fees?? But then again no one will ever know the truth since I found out HarryK is the treasurer of the Patchin Fire Company. I asked in another forum what his office was and he never answered, interesting...

I have actually been spared that mailing!!! I would rather get his intentions for free- what is owed to me as a voter. I don't want to pay $25 to get the answers.

Really I thought everyone in town received one, that what is seemed like to me. I hear ya, we should all get the info for free, not have to send a check to the Plutos house. Seems strange for a part time board member postion, there is a fund raiser. I did notice that it is not an event for Dave Schank. He must have enough money in the Schank Foundation to carry him through this election, or he is trying to distance himself. Either way I dont think I will go to the fund raiser either.

I wish this could be a standard, or at least a tradition whereby the citizens could host the forum, like you said, at the school. I think it would be a difficult road to ho to start, but it should be embraced by the canidates who want to get their message out to the masses, so we know what they stand for. Some people are not able to think on thier own, stand for something, and are able to convey to us what their platform is. This would hopefully weed them out. I think what is forgotten is these people are elected by the people, for the people. Some recently have lost sight of that and use it as a personal forum for thier benfit; not only locally but on the far larger scale.
I would hope that one of the civic groups would host it. For this year, it is probably too late, but I would love to see it happen in the future. And I don't think we should have to pay money to find out what these canidates stand for.

Boston Patriot,
I couldnt agree more with a debate. Sponsored by The chamber of Commerence maybe. I to have had only two at my door, Mead & Piazza. I grilled them and they responded honestly about the following concerns I have about our small town:
1) Public Water Costs and if really needed
2) Development to increase tax base
3) stream line approval process at the Planning Board level
4) Commercial Development in town
5) Affordable Senior Housing in town (Eagan said he was working on it and nothing yet after 3 years)
6) Town Road Maint scheduling/plowing 1 or 2 men in truck
7) Boston Community Days - Finacials
8) Tax Collectors Shank's duties and responsibilities
9) Town Supervisors duties and going part time to full time
10) Getting rid of Assistant Supervisior position
11) Fire Companies
Every citizen should have a laundary list to ask these politicians if they come to your door. We are lucky that it is a small town and we get them to come right to the door.

I promise to watch where our tax dollars are being spent and stand up and fight against wasteful spending. I will do my part by not accepting any raises while in office.
If elected to avoid any perceived conflicts of interest, my wife will not seek nor accept the job of Deputy Town Supevisor.
As Chief I have worked with local, County, State, and Federal Officials to obtain over $250,000 worth of grants. The Fire Company and I began the EMT Training Program in 2002. Our Fire Company has trained over 12 members as EMT's and 20 First Responders in an effort to supplement the Boston Emergency Squad. In the short time we have answered first aide calls, we have assisted many residents within our district.
As a Firefighter, I get involved with some of the issues related to storm water run-off by assisting and pumping out basements. I discovered that the Town of Boston hs suffered from drainage problems for many years, and my research has found that the town officials have not done enough in the way of solving this problem.
The Town Board needs to be more responsive to our Senoir Citizens. We need to encourage more Senior Citizen housing devlopement. Our Seniors deserve to be able to afford to live and stay in our town. The Board needs to be more supportive of our two senior groups and their resquest for funds for activities.
We have a great summer youth program. We need to continue to motivate and help our youth of the community year round.
I would like to see the town become more supportive of our youth organizations, like the Boyscouts, Girlscouts, 4-H Clubs, Town sports leagues, and the Fire Companies Explorer Posts. This could simply be done by helping to promote them. I also think it's time to look into a youth center.
I would like to control the development in the town and ensure that any development enhances our town. We need to pass building codes that make commercial development fit into the rural and charming character of the Town of Boston.
The more research I have done, the more issues I discover have not been handled by town officials in a timely manner.
Not only this, but I discovered there are now people sitting on the town board who have never been involved, nor volunteered with any of the town organizations. They have never researched solutions to problems, never headed a committee and have never involved themselves in any fact finding activities that would be needed to address any issue that needed to be worked on.
My goal is to do more than just attend twice-monthly board meetings and collect a pay check. My goal is to head community action groups, research solutions to problems, and meet with people who can provide solutions to problems. I want to make a difference in how town government takes care of problematic issues that have been plaguing residents for years, because of the boards laziness, apathy, and inability to follow up.
We need people on the town board willing to be leaders. Just because you vote for something doesnt make you a leader.
Sincerley,
Jim Pluta
That's what Jim sent out, take it for what it's worth, or I see he made a post, why not ask him???

This is the most used political piece the voters in town have seen for many years. And the voters are tired of it.
Its simply called BOILER-PLATE politics.
Drainage, youth groups, senior citizens, fire companies..............
Blah,blah,blah,blah
Same old thing every election................. You would think that an individual running for political office could come up with something new and exciting for our town.
How about our infrastructure? Water, sewer, cable, internet service and natural gas.
How about controlling the towns spending? Take a look at our recent budget and compare it to 10 years ago.
How about a pledge to stop raiding the fund surplus?
How about luring new business into town? Why not a business district or two?
Why not look at Solar or Wind Energy to off-set the high cost of utilities?
These are just a few that come to mind.
What Mr. Pluta offers is nothing more than politics as usual.

The endorsed republicans for the most part can get things done if they are in the majority. New town hall, highway garage, parks, state police barracks, and the EMS building just to name a few. But, for the past two years Democratic Chairman Eagans board consists of three democratics. Nothing gets done really. Just people collecting paychecks. And thats the way it will be for another 2 years, like it or not.
What the republicans need to do is vote for the two endorsed candidates this year, and in two years get the majority of the board back.
Then things will start to happen.
My question is why is Kathy Magrans political piece mailed from Democratic Chairmans Eagans home address, with the Democratic Bulk mail permit?????????
Can anyone say PUPPET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
