Orchard Park, NY (WBEN) - There will be at least one more meeting before officials in the Orchard Park School District make a final decision on how to realign elementary schools.

The problem revolves under the over-capacity status of some schools, while two others remain under-used. But attempts to re-assign students to different schools it not going over well with parents.

WBEN's Tom Puckett reports the district is still trying to work out a solution that keeps just about everyone happy, but it's not an easy job. You can hear his report by clicking on the audio link above.

This was in the Buffalo news the other day. Of course parents are going to be upset. This happens everytime kids are moved around. The big thing in the OP schools is that 3 of their elementary schools (Eggert, Ellicott and South Davis) are high-performing schools while the other (Windom) doesn't perform as well.

There are are a few reasons for this. The students in the other three come from much more money. The school district also focuses more attention/money on those schools as a result. I attended Windom and I turned out just as well as anyone from the other schools.

I thought you lived in Hamburg until you were 12 & then moved to Cheektowaga. How could you attend Windom from Cheektowaga? Or was it when you lived in Hamburg?

Apparently you are not familiar with the boundaries of the Orchard Park School District. Some kids who live in Blasdell go to Windom. I was one of them. The school is on Sheldon Drive. My parents house was Hamburg Taxes, Blasdell mailing address and OP schools. We moved when I was in 8th grade.

I then moved to an area in WS that was still OP schools. I currently live in Cheektowaga, since I completed college, got married, etc etc.

Schools announce their budgets and any tax rate changes in the Spring. The Towns announce their stuff in the fall.
