Welcome Porter Cup Golfers to the Niagara Falls Country Club!
Niagara Falls, New York

Would exposure to radiation decrease your number of swings?

Wow, I'm shocked. Right in the backyard of some of the "Old Money" families of Niagara County (at least where the old money people used to live before local industry collapsed). I always thought that an animal never crapped where they ate, but I guess I was wrong.

One more reason why "wealth" has been leaving the area for some time now.

Money doesn't cure dumb...it does, however, accumulate corruption.

The other reason I posted this is to show the prevalence of these materials ALL around. Whether it was through road bed materials, fill, or haphazard handling of "unknown" materials used during development, utility installation etc, this legacy got all over. Pat Boone Golf shoes and John Henry work boots alike.

The other important thing to keep in mind with all of this - is TIMELINE. When things were built, rebuilt, newly paved, dug-out or filled-in, along with when certain industry manufacturing lines-were active, when materials were made and what were the era practices for employee/community safety and disposal of "wastes."

With Niagara Falls, NY, all you need to do is look at the industrial history and atomic timeline. Then, much of this does make sense in a perverse sort of way.

Downstate, your take on the relationship between industrial and economic decline is completely accurate. As is Dr. _Rev., Tree and others with the growing incidence of crime - as associated w poverty here. It's an inevitable result and the obvious outcome. One effecting the other, for sure.

The relationship between what's "left" here in terms of the economy, "old money," and the depositing of 'enviro-crap' all around, is still in need of further full-disclosure and discussion.

When and where allowed, of course.

Can you explain exactly what we are looking at in the photo?

I see the lines draw over the map. What do the circles represent over all?

The Porter Cup is a great event and an asset to WNY. It's a shame that someone has to continually pee on every parade. No NFCC membership?

Jeese WNYResident:

This Sunday Niagara guy just returns from a weeklong 'timeout' and immediately he's at this again? He's already jumped into two or three threads I've started and then with the posting of this crap all over again.

I'd like to answer your questions about what this survey map tells (or add more) but I shouldn't be dogged and this important information pooh-poohed by these continual and un-adultlike attacks. If the parade is in a bad area, I seem to get the rain.

I don't understand why this one poster feels the need to add these interjections on threads he's not welcomed. Especially, when a conversation just begins or questions are being asked. This is unnecessary and now repetitively harassing.

Because I know what you are.

This thread is unnecessary.

Start a new thread and let everyone know about the event.

Just ignore him..

I requested he start up a new thread and brag about the event.

This thread is unnecessary.

All that really makes a difference is that I know who he is...

So, start a clean thread and brag about the great event.

I'm more interested what the radiation factor could be in that area.

I had MULTIPLE people in my family DIE of CANCER.. This stuff is important to me. It's not a fun way to go.

Do you?

Currently he's a poster who is concerned about the toxic waste that was dumped in are area. Others have confirmed that quite a bit of stuff was dumped in a LOT of places here in WNY.

Why would you want to risk someones children to what some of that waste can cause?

What do the contour lines mean?

According to the language in the official documents, the contour lines represent "area(s) of increased radiation levels not typical of the radiation background in the area" - and that had been detected during a previous aerial fly-over survey conducted for the Department of Energy.

This information comes from the second, more sensitive aerial survey, that was conducted closer to the ground and with slower speed aircraft.
