BLOGGER’S GUN LICENSE SUSPENDED AFTER THREATENING POST (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/1-down-534-to-go-bloggers-gun-license-suspended-after-threatening-post/)
A blogger from Arlington, Massachusetts has had his gun license temporarily suspended after he wrote a disturbing post regarding the Tucson shootings and Rep. Gabrielle Giffords titled, “1 Down 534 To Go.”
According to WBZ-TV, which reviewed the blog, the “1” refers to Giffords while the “534” refers to all members of Congress — both Democrat and Republican. The blog site was not operational at the time of this story’s publication.
“It is absolutely, absolutely unacceptable to shoot indiscriminately. Target only politicians and their staff and leave regular citizens alone,” 39-year-old Travis Corcoran — who owns a comic book store — reportedly wrote on the blog.

Free speech takes another hit...
Your freedom to swing your arms around ends where my nose begins. You cannot make statements like that AND think they are harmless.
Every freedom has a limitation. We can't yell "fire!" in a theater, nor can we carry RPGs on the subway.

Free speech takes another hit...
There was no government interference with his right to free speech.
The second amendment doesn't allow anyone to own any gun at anytime and any place.
The state is free to deny a firearm to an irresponsible person. He acted irresponsibly and thus lost his ability to possess a firearm.
His website was not taken down by the government. He can still make his insane statements. He just can't own firearms.
Isn't this exactly what the gunuts were screaming for? "It's not they guns, it's the madmen. focus on the madmen, not the guns."
Well, we did focus on a madman, and we took away his guns.

Consider yourself lucky nobody shows any authority figure your insane posts, especially the ones about dogs, or your guns will go bye-bye too, Uncle Jesse.

.
He did not act, he spoke.
The governement is denying him rights (not privileges) he otherwise would have held based on its subjective interpretation of what could just as easily have been interpreted as satirical speech. Using its authority that way is at the very least a disinsentive for the free exercise of speech, if not outright interference.

Maybe because you seem to think they're "fair and balanced." ;)

Rod Watson nailed the issue in his column today.
Hypocritical spin does 180 on violence
(http://www.buffalonews.com/city/columns/rod-watson/article317801.ece)
They know—and I thought the right wing knew—the obvious: What we see and hear in the mass media can influence behavior. It can establish a cultural norm for what’s acceptable. It can magnify grievances and provoke action.
In fact, somewhere today I’m sure there’s a rapper kicking himself because he didn’t originate the catchy phrase “Second Amendment solution” for dealing with police, drug rivals or whomever. Somewhere there’s a rapper who can’t believe a middle-aged white woman beat him to the slogan “Don’t retreat, reload.”
And don’t tell me the tea party audience is less susceptible to such rhetoric.
Whom are the rappers talking to? The alienated who feel that the deck is stacked against them, that the powers that be don’t care about people like them and that playing by the rules is for suckers because the American dream was never meant for them.
Whom are tea partyers talking to? The newly alienated who feel that the deck is stacked for Wall Street and against the middle class, that the suits in Washington don’t care about people like them and that the old rules don’t apply because the American dream is slipping away.
Stoke either group enough, and the results are predictable.
