In general what do the people this is a fair wage for the Mayor of Buffalo. Remember he voted himself a raise and it's now upwards of $125,000 a year plus beni's that probally over $12,000 a year plus perks..
Also, when these people retire they are on our dime till they are dead based on the average yearly salary they make. And what did i hear? State employees don't have to pay taxes on thier pensions?

I feel the Mayor does play an important roll in his position but all in all something in the $80,000 would be fair. I do think health care should be given as a credit to the employee and if the price goes up or down, they make up the difference.
Perhaps there can be a vote at the end of the year where the residents can vote a perk for a job well done. We can not STRADDLE ourselves with all the cost these people put on us.

Is this something we can change with a petition? Once we get his pay in line with what it should be we then can work top down with the rest of our local elected officials.

Tony deserves Jack!
$125k + bennies + perks
AND DO NOT FORGET
K I C K B A C K S!!!!
do you think he makes all these stupid decisions (ie. the police contract) because they are for the best of buffalo?
If you do believe that then you are part of the problem.

Has anyone sent this to the mayor to get his 2 cents about why we pay him so much? Wouldn't we all like to hear his answer?

Perhaps it should be an incentive-laden contract. Same with the Superintendent of schools.

like working at BK, the mayor should be paid for his performance. if he does what should be done, energetic about his job and mops the floor at the end of the night... then he gets more than his co-workers. But a slacker should get slacker's pay.
and only moderate health insurance, considering there are so many people in Buffalo without any kind of health coverage.

When you see the results of this poll it makes you wonder why he voted his own pay raise.
Is there a way to unvote his vote if the residents all grouped togeather?

I say the Mayors salary as well as every other polititions salary sould be the average income of all residents in that juristicition.
With no bennifets.
It's the only "fair" way.
The Mayor has a business mans salary currently. Business men only work on inproving their own image & move up in the ranks instead of the entire companies good. To much BS'ing involved.
If it reflected the status of the enconomy, the status of the people in the juristiction. The "power" would work to improve the status of all citizens instead of for thier own gain.
No bennifets simply becasue they would have a personal intrest in lowering the costs of rising health care and un godly premiums.
No personal use of goverment owned transportation.
This would also require a cap on fund rasing and spending on campaign monies, as to eliminate the politition focusing his effort onto one industry because they contribute $.

Good idea, base thier salaries against the average of the community. I dont think we need to go that low in general but, have it somewhat geared to it.
Currently the mayor, state legislators and a lot of the patronage jobs are far overpaid. A lot of these positions are part time but they act like they are full time.

Thanks, It would be extremely hard to actually change the way things are now & salarys keep going up & up & up. If you could give yourself a raise of cource you would. Who in this would wouldn't? We need to change that and the only way is a vote.
We all know that many if not most/all high up goverment employee's salary is way to much for the work they do. Even they know that.
Quite a few only work part time and work for someone else or own their own business.
I'd love to know how much time these people actually spend "working". Not including fund raisers, campaining, meet & greet's, sitting in thier office drinking coffee & browsing the internet. Yeah they attend meetings/etc... but what good is that? What input do they actually come to the table with, when they have never sat down and actually reviewed, researched and spent the time to know what is the best for the community. A 10 minuite breifing to read over the issue simply does not cut it.
OK, so we could inclue bennifets. We could also cut everyones salary in 1/2 then pay them a form of commision or something similar to most companies version of "profit sharing".
Polititions have far larger agendas then the "good of the town". such as thier salary, their name & "social standing" for when they leave office they can move up in thier companies ranks or grow thier own business. Don't say it's not true, becasue you know it is. Yeah they are somewhat intrested in the town. but only what they see would be good. We vote for someone based on only 1 or 2 issues that really effect us, while unknowingly elect someone who is totaly destroying the good in every other way.

Maybe not as hard as you think. A lot of people don't realize yet the BS that a lot of the elected officials get away with along with the people they hire. A lot of developrs use some as puppet people to get what they need to profiteer off of the communities. Not all, but a lot.
If it needs to go to the point of no one sending thier taxes in until we bleed them dry it might come to that. But i think it would be easier to just assemble a new group of honest people and vote them in.
Once we vote them out we can go through the process of criminal investigations to keep them from ever getting back into the system. Perhaps they will just leave NYS and go ruin some other state. They can then promise other "Welfare cases" monies to try to gain thier votes other places. Hopefully the other states will see what these people have done to NYS and not allow it to happen.

THey all deserve a paycheck but i think they are turning part time jobs into full time paychecks. Maybe not hte mayor but all in all he's over paid. When your pay is like 6 times the non-civil employee average that's a little too much. Plus, well no results.
