Buffalo News Story : By Sandra Tan
How long will we be treated by the the appearance of Sandra in Lancaster ?
It was painfully obvious to many readers of the news , Lancaster seems to have a high rate of
"Reporter Turnover"
Its commonly known that for years now , Be honest , Be unbiased , Be investigative --
You'll be gone !
So far , this reporter has been printing things Local Developers and Controlling Town Hall Members aren't happy with .
How long before Developers and Local Committee Members have her removed?
Will the management at the Buff News be strong enough to let the readers decide or will they cave to the Political pressures once again ?
:D

Ms. Tan's articles on the drug situation, development (Henslow sparrows & Windor Ridge South), wetlands issues and the traffic study would never have seen the light of day in the Lancaster Bee - the town's bought cupbearer .
Today's Bee issue supported the school district's and Judge Dwan's perception on the drug problem as being no more serious in Lancaster than in any other school system; never once quoting in the past month what parents, school children and concerned residents thought.
Today's multiple commentaries favoring the sale of the Depew Library to Southeast Works were so one sided, it served as an example of how controlled this newspaper is by town and special interests.
Tan is a breath of fresh air compared to the two previous Buffalo News lackey's who only wrote on what was given to them by town officials and what favored their interests.
For years, the Bee has been reticent on writing about town related issues - low water pressure, a townwide drug problem, traffic and infrastructure issues, indifference to wetland destruction and flooding and drainage issues, etc.
That's not to say that Lancaster is not a good place to live in, but as one resident recently told the town board, "Let's not sugarcoat the problem."
The recent SNAFU on the crew chief hirings should be a wakeup call that we are being played.

I don't even read The Bee anymore.
But I do remember something from quite a few years ago, although my Alzheimer's is setting in and I don't remember the details....
...Does anyone remember when the Village of Lancaster almost didn't renew the Bee as the Official Paper of the Village? I really don't remember the details, but I do remember that it was scarily fishy.

Sandra has learned where her bread gets buttered !
If one goes back through the Buff News archives - Bob Giza has used virtually the same "Lines" about any other person even rumored to want to run against him . (except for Mayor Cansdale - then Bob played the "Wounded Father" act.
Sandra has quickly learned to simply "Regurgitate" what Bob feeds her.
She seems now to be content being a "Staff Reporter" instead of a journalist.
Caution : Mr.Ward - be careful of every word you say - No reporter can be trusted to print what you say - they will print what they perceive you said and distort every issue. If you say your in favor of "Term Limits" they will print you said - "I don't care , I wont be here that long"

Well folks , Sandra has gone the way of many of her predecessor. She is getting good at re-writing events so as to not offend the Lancaster Government and Local Politicians.
Come on Sandra - write some factual actual news - the article you wrote is pathetic - is this why you dreamed to be a reporter - is this what you studied for . Do you really want to be just another no guts tool ?
Your lack of "reporting" just encourages these Political "Bosses" to continue
abusing tax payers trust.
Stand up for something - selling out even a little is like only being a little pregnant !

I just re-read Ms. Tan's article and I can't see where she kissed up to anyone or re-wrote events.
If you want to, quote the lines you have a problem with. We can discuss them.
(A feeble attempt at humor) Neither of us need fear poking each other in the chest because we'll be too busy poking our keyboards.

My point being - she as others before her , white wash and some times ignore the nuances of actions and events .
The truth is colored or un-colored so as not to insight the interests of the readers .
Even today the:
Volker apologizes for using ethnic term
Denies intent to slur engineering professor
By Sandra Tan
Updated: 08/23/07 6:57 AM
This "article" is designed to undo/down play Sen. Dale Volkers actions toward the Tax Payers he "works" for - yet he doesn't actually apologize to anyone (personally) or about anything - he (Sen.Volkers representative) dances and surely denies his deeds by saying he was "Misunderstood - misinterpreted."
"BOHUNK"
Sandra tries to imply Sen.Volker was "Questioning" Mr. Ryburg - He sought out Mr.Ryburg then Loudly , aggressively and in a intimidating manner insulted his concerns and information . "Questioning" is no where near a "accurate" descriptive word for Sen.Volkers menacing tirade .
I didn't see where as the article title says , "Volker apologizes."
His representative crafted a clever plea of "No Contest" - "Denies Intent"
She aids Sen.Volker by improperly titling her article. She aids Sen.Volker by deemphasizing his actions . He is still down playing the condition of our bridges - just because he says - "others assure him" and we should trust them - he will be the first to crucify and point the finger at some one else should tragedy occur.
Instead of yelling at Mr.Ryburg , he should be warming the seats of the State Officials in charge of these Bridges . Instead Sen.Volker and other Elected Officials band together and act to shield each other.
Sen.Volker should have been sitting with the tax payers not hollering , "This is my Town!"
For too many years , Local Government has been aided by the Media . They don't try to show both sides , they report mostly what their fed.
Our taxes go up every year and every year our money is shuffled around by those we Elected. Tax Dollars are funneled through one budget after another . Just recently funds that were supposed to help keep college students safe was actually used to buy phones and other non-security items instead - after a investigation found that to be true - New York States Senators voted to , " Increase Funding and not demand any accountability of Millions of tax dollars."
Just Like this incident with Sen.Volker - when or how will they ever beheld responsible or how will we ever affect change - when the Media is apart of the problem - they sway toward the whims of those in "Power"
:(
