View Full Version : Your 4 choices for the Frontier School Board
FJB
May 14th, 2007, 08:58 PM
1.) Adam Schreckengost
A Mechanical Engineer with McGard Industries in Orchard Park. He was educated at U.B with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. Adam works with multi-million dollar projects every day. He takes projects from conception thru production and delivery. He is constantly supervising and working with people locally and internationally and has a superb record of reliability and accountability. Adam has never held public office and this is his first foray into politics of any kind. He has a platform that includes requiring all new hire employees to under go pre-hire polygraph and psychological testing to weed out those candidates with a predisposition of pedophile tendencies.
He also has a plan to help the district save a percentage of money to cover future capital improvement projects and has the knowledge and experience to utilize new technologies to help teachers inform parents about homework assignments for their children by uploading them on the web.
2.) Michael Comerford
He is retired from the U.S. Customs Service. He was educated at Canisius College with a B.A. in Biology. He has served on the school board for 10 years and has voted yes for every tax increase put in front of him.
3.) Stanly Figiel
Stan doesn’t list any advanced education in his bio but he lists the fact he has been a member of the Big Tree Fire Company as his qualification for the position. Stan has been on the school board for more than 30 years and in that time has voted yes for every tax increase. Mr. Fiegl has a long list of political activity and is considered a friend to the cause of raising taxes to appease the unions.
4.) Martin Lalka
Martin is a retired mailman. He was also in the Army for several years. Martin has no formal education other than high school. His experience at working within multi-million dollar budgets and union contracts is limited to sticking his hand into a bag of mail and deciding if he is putting the mail in the right mailbox. In other words he has never dealt with these kinds of issues. Some of his closest friends have said he isn’t the man to be making these kinds of decisions. I’m sure he is the guy you would love to have a beer with at the Bills Game but this is the future of our children we’re talking about.
Your choices are clear. Three must be voted in office this year. I ask that you vote in Adam Schreckengost and leave the other levers alone. Allow someone else to decide the other two since the remainder of the candidates are all terrible. Two are union hacks who support tax increases every year and the other has no business in this race what so ever. It’s up to you tomorrow, make the right choice and elect Adam Schreckengost.

Hilarious post!! Very informative and educational too. I especially enjoyed the part about Lalka having to reach into a mailbag and make sure he gets the mail to the right house. What a joke this message board has become.

The turn out for this election was the lowest in 10 years, at least that is what the preliminary numbers show. In order for Adam to pull 900 votes, it means a good chunk of the unions voted in his favor. I'm told the turn out was just over 1800 total. Last years election pulled about 2800 out of 30,000 possible votes. 1800 votes is about 5-6% turn out. There are stil absentee ballots to be counted but not enough to sway the election.

Adam ran an honest campaign. He didn't sacrifice his morals or beliefs to gain a union vote for a victory. Martin Lalka played follow the leader into this seat and he can only hurt the district with his inexperience with multimillion dollar decisions. Whether you like me or not has no bearing on the fact that Adam Schreckengost has a set of big ones and is willing to stand up to the unions and say what needs to be said and do what needs to be done. You will never get that from Martin Lalka.

Adams campaign --- $256.00 = 900 votes
All the rest spent way more than $1000.00 in just signs alone. Adam bought 10 signs simply to say he had a couple. By the way I think I smell a campaign for town board now that he has gotten his name out there. I think we set him up well for that run on the IP line.;)

It also shows that at least half the voters voted for Adam. Pretty good for a first run showing, with nothing much in the way of advertising funds spent.

First of all, it's "you're," as in: "You are able to work..."
Regardless of who was elected, I think it's a sad commentary on our region when out of thousands of potential voters, a mere 2,000 or so showed up. As long as the residents are this complacent, we can never hope for true reform. The residents deserve the current status quo government, because the reality is, the majority cares more about sporting events than they do their leadership. If people truly cared about reform, they'd have shown up yesterday.
As always... business as usual!

I know someone who spent $0 and received 214 votes to win election in Maryvale.... of course he was unopposed....
But the other candidates spent next to nothing and the incumbent won 280 to 95. It doesnt matter how much you spend on a school board election. People will vote for who they know and what the person has done (i.e. their record.)

You're right and that is exactly why Adam did his campaigning door to door. I don't care what anyone said his return was fantastic considering he was fight a major union. Lalka was only elected because he didn't commit to any agenda and followed the lead of Comerford and Figiel. Adam said what needed to be said and didn't compromise his integrity to win. If this school board election is held in November like the proposed change in the law suggests then I think Adam wins with the most votes. People out there just don't pay attention to elections held in May for some reason. It's terrible that our school budget and taxes will be decided on by 1800 voters out of 30,000 voters. School taxes are the largest chunk of your escrow.
Here is a perfect example of what I have been saying. One of my neighbors has been complaining that her taxes going up is putting her in a position that she may have to sell her house. When I asked her to go vote no on the budget and vote for Adam she told me that she can't because her union is completely against him. So she put herself in a position to lose her house because she isn't smart enough to realise that who she votes for behind the curtain is her own business. This kind of union loyalty is what has destroyed our region.

Now you are finally understanding. I learned along time ago, those who cant teach. I am sorry you cant do.It takes a certian kind of person to make it in the private sector. You have to be hungry and you have to have drive. And you need to have the balls to work with out a saftey net. Now do you understand why I get so pissed off when I work harder then you do and I have to give more of My."The key word is My" money to the few who cant make an honest dime. I was brought up not to steal. I think thats a commandment? So take your pablum liberal crap some where else.

So is being a police officer or firefighter not a "real" job? Why dont we become communist and let everyone earn the same amount of money. Or just have no taxes and have everyone fend for themselves.... thats your version of Utopia!

Our district had like 402 votes in total 93 no's. 300 were others... They held a parents art show voting night to look at thier kids crafts... I bet a lot of those people voted. I would like school voting to be the same day as the rest of the voting for elected officials.
