View Full Version : Latello may replace Lancasters Parks/recreation Chief

Newly Appointed Patronage Parks/Recreation Department Recipient Mr.Latello might be moving up soon !
Word on the street is, he has had talks recently about possibly taking Terry Mc Crackens job .
A few high ranking Political types in Lancaster's inner circle have been involved .
Its not been made clear if its because Terry believes he is a viable Town Candidate or because he has caused allot of unhappiness for the Older Controlling Town Board Members ?
There has been a rift between he and a powerful local attorney lately . It seems the other attorney in the fold has no love for him either - so he wont intervene on Terry's behalf .
If Terry doesn't run for Political Office and win - his job title may be that of a "LABORER."
This would leave a opening that Mr.Latello would have no trouble securing/filling - lets face it , he needs the "Benefits" not necessarily the paycheck !
While J.C. sits and stirs the pot on all fronts - My bet is Terry will wake up and see he needs to "Pull in the horns" and slide a big chunk (Campaign Funds) of Party Loyalty to the Old Boys and be glad he has made it this far ! ;)

Why can't they hire someone out of college and fresh ideas for a position like this?

Unless the College Grad has beep pockets and a hot local pub to use as his personal soap box - he wouldn't have a chance. ;)

The community doesn't need someone who has a chance, the community needs someone good for the job with fresh ideas if need be. THe community owes no one crap but if the community is going to have a Recreation Department person they should have someone good for the spot.

I agree, but I don't think Lancaster town officials think that way. When you bring in an outsider, especially one with "fresh ideas," you run the risk of subjecting yourself to scrutiny. Heaven forbid!

When an insider, from Lancaster's incrusted aristocracy, has "fresh ideas", they are scrutinized, criticized, cut from the herd, and demoralized.
The Town of Lancaster government is not a democracy, opened to fresh ideas.
When will the people of Lancaster WAKE UP!

I guess people in the lancaster community will have to replace the town board basically the way it happened in depew. :)

I'm just guessing here, but could it be Richard Sherwood, the town attorney and the voice of SEVERAL Lancaster board members who prefer being mute?:)

Lancaster and Depew are two different political animals.
In the villages, people who want to run for office join an existing Party, form a new Party, or run on their own.
In the towns, the Democrats, Republicans, Conservatives, and Independents rule the roost. Yes, people can form Parties or run on their own. But the money required to do so and make an impact is out of reach of the average person.
In Lancaster, there is only one Party, the Democrats. They control the Democrat Party, Independent Party, and (somehow) always manage to get the Conservative nod.
The Lancaster Republican Party destroyed itself with infighting, lawsuits against each other, etc. The powers that be, though they fight each other, go out of their way to discourage and destroy anyone trying to reorganize and develop an effective Party.
At the moment, the only hope is that reasonable, progressive Democrats make a move to take over the Party. The chances of that happening are inestimable at the moment. There are rumblings, but the efforts are being torpedoed with every trick in the book.
There are no known individuals with the money to challenge the powers that be, at this moment.
Will what happened in Depew repeat itself in Lancaster? It's possible, but it doesn't seem likely at this time.

You obviously don't know a thing about GSHOWELL - he is and has been a "MAJOR" voice , activist , contributor to and for "POSITIVE" debate and "True" pro-active resident . He uses his own time and money. His efforts have never served anyone's Political needs.
I haven't seen anyone else - nor do I personally know anyone on this board who has devoted more energy than he has for Lancaster/DEPEW Tax Reform and Open Government .:)

You can defend yourself easily. Just apologize.
The member you decided to blast as a do-nothing helped create a very active taxpayer group (one of the few left in WNY). He writes for SUWNY all the time. He spends countless hours at local government meetings and has caught our elected officials trying to pull the wool over the public's eyes more than a few times. This person prepares FOILs and does independent research on issues like government spending.
He even sits down with government bureaucrats to get a better understanding of how much and/or why tax dollars are spent. Poor thing!:)

Man, you really have no idea who Gshowell is. You know nothing about him regarding his integrity or his political or private positive characteristics.
To say he has contributed nothing in making our community a better place to live in is ludicrous.
Next time you bump into him at a Town or Village Board meeting say hello and get to know him. Next time he is out canvassing to help a reform candidate get elected, stop and say hello to him. Next time you attend a charitable event, share some time with him.
That is, if you do any of those things. Then again, you may be too busy cleaning up from the storm.

I am not "picking" on concernedwnyer. He went after another poster, gshowell no less, accusing him of doing nothing, when in fact, gshowell is actively involved in his community. This is not the first time concernedwnyer has done this on the mb. There are plenty of threads to point to showing this to be a fact.
All these posts were based on concernwnyer's 1st and subsequent posts. My comment, although made in jest, was not untrue. He makes excuses for why he can't/won't get involved in community projects then ridicules others for doing so. (just read the Central Terminal thread posted by SolarEclipse)

What???? I have spoken to you about this on more then one occasion in your own shop - ok. I said what have I done to Ragintaxpayer for her to constantly intercept posts and go into attack mode with me.
You have not done anything about it to try and get at the bottom of this. You come back with it is a perception thing with you.. With me, then there is a heck of a lot of perception problems with many members of this message board. Do you read the messages that are posted by members??????
I agree some of my message postings are rough but I do not go and pick up everything but the kitchen sink and throw it at another poster just for the heck of it. She has been doing that.
You want to have a debate fine then have a fair debate. You do not like something I post then say so.
I do not see many of the old timers from way back getting on here and posting anymore. I see the new bunch getting on and posting but as time will prove, I am sure they will eventually stop posting too…
me being picked on is not the issue. It is her constant butting in and attacking on issues not even related to the message thread. the issues I might add are not even 100 percent true! It is childish on her part.
