Remember Robin Schmingger's voting history when you pull the level next time this career politician, who has done nothing in his career other than watch over our decline.

Schimingger was one of our local politicians who decided to not to vote for a comptroller candidate that was selected via an agreed upon selection process, instead voting to appoint a fellow lawmaking.

The deal was to have a selection commitee develop a list of candidates to select from. The list included highly qualified, experienced candidates and the selection committee was made of former comptrollers. Seemed like a noble and progressive way to do things. When the list came back with nary a single member of the existing lawmaking arm (ie, cronies), the lawmakers got ticked and decided that the deal they made was meaningless. The guy they voted for by all accounts lacks the experience and skill. It was a political move by a greedy, self-serving group of lawmakers intent on business as usual.

And Schmingger is one of them.

I agree. Schimminger sold us out to support one of his own for comptroller. I hope he is one of the assemblymen Gov. Spitzer targets next year. We sent him to Albany to work with Spitzer and change the way they do business and only one month in he is back to the same old way. Enough!

Good luck trying to get Schimminger out--he has been a fixture for 30+ years in that seat!

ALL (but two) of "Steamroller Spitzer"'s fellow Democrats in the Assembly voted for Tom DiNapoli for Comptroller.

Are they all "wrong"? What makes Spitzer "right"?

Steamroller wanted his pick. He didn't get his way.

The power to replace the Comptroller in case of a vacancy lies with the LEGISLATURE - NOT the Executive.

Now Spitzer wants blood. BUT - he needs to work with the Leg. to pass a Budget.

GET OVER IT, ELIOT. Your girl (Stark) didn't pass the big test. I was told she never contacted any legislator to ask for votes or explain her plans for the big job, but thought the Gov's "blessing" would be enough.

Obviously not.

Good for Robin (and the rest) for voting for who he thought was the best candidate, despite the screams from the Gov.

What comptroller experience does the gentleman have that the legislature picked?
