Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, paving (lack of) and potholes?
The road is RADIOACTIVE!
That's why it's not being torn up or repaved.

At least 11 spots from LaSalle to downtown. You know me. Do I joke?
PLUS-There were two EEOICP (AWE) factories along Buffalo Ave. and records of "waste" injection wells from the Manhattan Project/Atomic Energy Commission era.

PLUS-There were two EEOICP (AWE) factories along Buffalo Ave... Buffalo Avenue was a 'haul road' to and from Tonawanda, Lewiston LOOW Site, other production areas, etc.
EEOICP - 'The Act' Year 2000 Congressional Act, Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program, AWE - Atomic Weapons Employer location(s), Hooker and Carborundum are on The List.

STEVE: You may wish to watch this guy and his posts (as can be seen by the continuous pro-counter-crime comments.) He was just booted/banned from the Niagara Gazette forum site FOR THE THIRD and final time and has quite the reputation there as a rock-solid Troll and Troubled Contrarian. He leaves nothing of value, lives elsewhere, lies and is a general pest.

While you are at it, take a look and see if you can find any of Nuke Boy's posts, as he has been booted and ALL of his poisonous posts/threads have been removed. Later today, I'll be posting links to Judy Mokhiber's threads.
PS: When will you back on the Gazette Forum, Nuke?

"While you are at it, take a look and see if you can find any of Nuke Boy's posts,"
BECAUSE OF MY ETHNIC-RACIAL BACKGROUND AND UPBRINGING, I TAKE GREAT EXCEPTION TO THE USE OF THE WORD "BOY" IN THE ABOVE POST!

From: The 1985 Oak Ridge National Laboratories (ORNL) report of radiation anomalies around Niagara Falls, New York. Round spots are radium/uranium, the squares are thorium in origin. This map is from one report. There are numerous reports. "Buffalo Ave." is labeled at the Eastern and Western ends of this map. The far West is the City, and the far Eastern end is LaSalle. The dark vertical line to the right mid-way represents the State I-190 thruway traveling North from the Grand Island Bridge..toward Lewiston-Porter-Youngstown.

I wish I could get my arms around this. I carry a portable radiation monitor around with me alot. It goes off when I am surrounded by ceramic tile, which is a natural radiation source. Yet it never goes off when I drive down Buffalo Avenue, or Lewiston Road, or anywhere else on Lou's lists.
Why is that, if this stuff is so dangeous?

Dear Border Bob:
Did you ever go to the back of the Rapids Bowling Alley parking lot? Do so. Does your radiation detection meter measure background levels of radiation of just spikes>? Alpha, Beta or Gamma>? If you remain in your car, because many of these materials are "Alpha" emitters, you won't see much of a reading at all. HOWEVER, IF you go to the bowling alley and take a reading in-or-out of a vehicle, then take your meter to say, the Southern Tier, THEN you'll see what the readings actually are and that your gear is calibrated for something other than these types of spots or particular elements from the Periodic Table. You should see an immediate increase and or alarm as soon as you pull in their lot. Or, your meter may be set to high to pick up on these spots. It's all in the "relative background" rates and instrument settings.
If you are allowed because of your job with the federal government, I'd be happy to discuss this with you here in greater detail and to resolution.
Cheers,
NL

My equipment isn't calibrated like that. It reads emissions in microrads/hour. No I have not gone by the Rapids, but based on your Geiger counter readings, I just might.

micro"RADs" per hour?
Do you mean milli or micro 'REM?'
"RAD" was a Civil Defense era calibration usually used for afterblast readings.....?
I use 'survey equipment.' "Geiger-Meuller counters" are just one device for measurement.
Go to the bowling alley. You'll be shocked. Tell me what your meter reads and then I'll be able to figure the difference between the two sets and give you that number for comparison. That is, the difference between what your's reads and what other survey equipment says in different formats of calibration IE--rem, sieverts, rad, greys and a host of others. Usually, it's just a matter of where the zero/decimal point gets placed.
I'll tell ya Bob, this is EXACTLY where the "metal meets the road"--, so to speak and in that odd, ironic, funny sort of way!

Then, it's just a matter of who (whom, who's, what, watt) in your community says is ok (as in Okeydokey, here) for a limit to that "RISK."
That's basically how it works, well, sort of, here.
BEIR VII and RISK are REALLY the discussion....along with EXACTLY WHAT IS all that so-called "SLAG?" SLAG.
