The residents in southern Erie County are about to lose their East Concord Highway barns. This area, well known for its lake-effect snowstorms of monumental proportions, will now be at the mercy of a neighboring facility. Of course, every facility in this rural area uses all its resources when bad weather hits. Last year, there were times when the foreman just couldn't get enough help to plow snow. Potholes aren't fixed, workers just draw a white circle around them and leave it at that. So what is the solution? Eliminate one highway barn. Overload the others, to do not only their work but another area as well.
Residents in this rural area of Erie County get few services for their tax dollars outside of road maintenance. Now even that seems to be a thing of the past. This area has had poor service in the past, but now it seems we will get no service at all! Get real. If you can't deliver the services the residents pay for, then contract out these jobs. Don't "temporarily" close one facility after another.
