I heard that Joels directors and commissoners have been cashing in vacation time for pay with out taking the time off, a common practice at retirement alltthough they are not retiring
. I heard one actually gave himself a retroactive check of thirty four thousand dollars, even though he wasn't covered by any collective barganing agreement and wasn't voted a raise by any legislative body.
I heard comptroller Naples is outraged and feels the money should be paid back.
I heard Joels payroll administrator say they don't have to pay it back, they did not do anything wrong.
Tell me it ain't so!!!

Naples has ask for the county attorney (Frederick A. Wolf) to review the portion of the regulations regarding the payout of accumilated vacation time. The Payroll administrator (John Greenan) is claiming there was no violation and they county saves money by not having large lump sums due when these folks retire. At this point until there is a clarification of the law there isnt much to go on. I'd prefer to wait, if the county attorney rules that it was a violation then it should be paid back.

To the promotion, again it is being investigated, the claim is an entry error, I find this one a bit harder to swallow, I know if I had a job for X per year and my paycheck didnt match I would be hollering loudly. I think there may be something here once the investigation pans out.

We will see how it pans out
