Sometime in late 2008 or early 2009 the West Seneca Town Board established a Ice Rink Review Committee to study the issue of what to do and how to proceed with the Town’s ice rink. More specifically this committee and a consultant that the Town hired was to do a complete analysis, including expected life, expected costs of rehabilitating the existing rink, adding another ice surface, and a complete new single or double rink in the present location or elsewhere. This information was supposed to have been available in September 2009.
I believe that this committee consists of Supervisor Piotrowski, the Town Engineer George Montz, the Highway Superintendent Matt English, the Police Chief Edward Gehen and the firm that the town payed $30,000 to draw up the blueprints of a new rink.
According to the website of the West Seneca Youth Hockey Association on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. at the West Seneca Senior Citizen's Center (4620 Seneca Street) a special meeting of the Town Board of the Town of West Seneca will apparently meet with members of the West Seneca Youth Hockey Association and their supporters.
As of this time there has been no known notice to the public of this meeting by the Town Board in apparent violation of the Open Meetings Law. Even if notice was given it was in violation of the Open Meetings Law in that it was unreasonable under the circumstances.
Whether or not and if so, how we proceed with the town ice rink will have a direct effect on your property taxes.
