Lancaster residents deserve better

I am seeking your support for a seat on the Lancaster Town Council. As a former School and Town Board member I know how important it is for elected officials to “listen” and “respect” residents and to address their concerns. We must return accountability; integrity and credibility back to the board.

As a forty-five year resident of Lancaster and a graduate of Depew High School I have a deep passion for this community. I decided to run, again, because I believe the community deserves better. While the quality of life for most residents is good, there are issues, within the town, that need to be addressed where residents have been shut out of the process.

We need a new vision, a new direction where smart growth principals are the rule, not the exception. If elected I pledge to propose and support the following:

*To review, revise and adhere to the Master Plan that advocates development that fits the needs of the entire residential/business community; one that inhibits a rash of rezones taking place within the town.

*To develop a fiscally responsible budget. While campaigning one of the major concerns of the residents was the need to control spending. Based on the current economic conditions our residents are making sacrifices and expect our elected officials to act responsibly.

*To seek proposals, programs and residential impute on setting priorities that eliminate government waste to save the community tax dollars.

*To work with adjoining Towns and the County in providing the necessary roads and infrastructure to accommodate the growth that has taken place. Flooding, drainage and sewer issues along with overburdened roads have impacted our residents. This can be seen where subdivision streets are being used as by-passes because of a lack of east-west and north-south roads. A major north-south corridor must be seriously considered in order to support the continued growth that has occurred.

*I vow to protect the environment by not allowing for indiscriminate destruction of valuable and functional wetlands.

Residents do not need to hear “These are county roads, there is nothing we can do about improving them.” Or “These are not our bridges, or our roads, go and complain to the county.” The town needs to work with other agencies that can provide problem solving and financial assistance.

With your support I hope to be elected. If that happens, with your voice, I pledge to make Lancaster a better town. We must return accountability; integrity and credibility back to the board.
