Miffed and upset by media reports that he would not be seeking re-election to his Lancaster Highway Superintendent position, Richard Reese contacted this writer to make it known that he always intended to seek re-elected despite the cloud of suspicion that hangs over his head.
Reese’s supporters are holding a meeting at 7 pm at the Bowmansville Fire Hall (Transit Road & Genesee Street) to distribute petition forms and organize for the future. Reese is inviting fellow democrats who would like to assist in getting the required petitions signed to attend.
Reese had informed the writer several weeks ago that he intended to run despite his not getting the Democratic Party endorsement. “The charges against me are frivolous,” says Reese. There are a lot of town employees as well as residents that stand behind me and have encouraged me to run. I intend to run, win and provide the same quality services as I was elected for and have been providing over the years.”
Reese was particularly upset when the Lancaster Source recently reported that he was not seeking re-election. The Lancaster Bee took the same position. “They didn’t come to me and ask whether I was running or not. They claim they got it from a “reliable” source. They have to start reporting what is taking place, not listening to a few select town officials.
Reese will be primarying Democratic Party endorsed candidate Dan Amatura. Amatura currently serves as Town Board Council member and has 2-1/2 years remaining on the board.
