Remembering D-Day, 1944

While it took President Obama two days to pay homage to two soldiers killed by a Muslim in Arkansas, I would like to remind others that it was sixty-five years ago , on June 6th, 1944 that D-DAY took place.

American and allied troops began the invasion of fortress EUROPA attacking the Normandy, France beaches of Gold, Juno, Omaha, Sword and Utah.

Many of our soldiers were 18--20 year old youths. They were brave, courageous men attacking the combined heavily armed/fortified forces of Fascism and Nazism!

The allied forces were led by American general Dwight D. Eisenhower. The purpose of the D-DAY invasion was to begin the offensive against the axis enemy forces led by Adolph Hitler - Der Fuehrer - and Benito Mussolini - IL DUCE.

Almost 75,000 allied troops perished in this historic 2 month battle; 16,000 Canadians, 28,000 English; and 30,000 Americans!

This was a pivotal battle that turned the outcome of the World War II and Ensured later victory in Europe. Winning the war in Europe and later in Japan (V-E Day) allowed us to preserve the fundamental freedoms of the United States of America:

FREEDOM of RELIGION

FREEDOM of SPEECH

FREEDOM of the PRESS

FREEDOM of CITIZENS to ASSEMBLE PEACEFULLY and to VOTE (without coercion and intimidation)

FREEDOM to PETITION all levels of GOVERNMENT (including New York State)

FREEDOM of INFORMATION LAW – FOIL

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FREEDOM of INFORMATION ACT!

GOD BLESS AMERICA! MAY OUR AMERICAN TROOPS (YOUTHS) REST IN PEACE!
