I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the support I received in the recent election. While campaigning for the Town of Lancaster council member position, I enjoyed meeting many of you during my door to door campaign and hearing about the issues with which you are concerned.
I was empowered by you to campaign on the issues that are relevant to the taxpayers and to continue bringing the issues to the forefront while working for a change.
Change does not happen overnight, however the more people that push for change, the faster it will occur.
I encourage you to become informed about the way your town is run. Read, ask questions and attend board meetings. Find out why the town tax is increasing and elected officials are still getting a 3% raise, along with taking money in the form of a health care buyout when they already have health insurance.
Become informed as to why the Colecraft building, intended to house our police department and court and costing $90,000+ a year, was purchased when it can’t be used for that purpose. Learn about the issues that affect you.
Lancaster is a great place to live but with the present economy, it has become clear - now more than ever - that we need to have a Town Board that is fiscally responsible.
I ran for the town board because I do love Lancaster and I know there are ways to make it better. I truly believe that a one-sided town board does not serve the best interests of all residents. By working together, we can make that change.
Next year there will be two town board seats up for election. I intend to campaign for one of them and ask you, the residents of Lancaster, to become involved. Remember, elected officials are supposed to be working for you.
