Lancaster’s Version of Pork barrel spending

The taxpayers of Lancaster are handing out $6000 stipends to our elected officials who opt out of the town’s health care coverage. Some elected officials are receiving both taxpayer-financed health care and taxpayer-financed stipends.

Councilwoman Donna Stempniak who receives a taxpayer financed pension in the amount of $54,729, a taxpayer financed councilman salary of $19,929 as well, and a health care opt out stipend.

Councilman Abraham receives a taxpayer funded Lancaster teacher’s salary, a taxpayer financed councilman’s salary, healt care insurance from the school district, and on top of that a town health care opt out stipend.

The biggest porker of them all is Supervisor Giza. He (Mr. Yukon) receives a taxpayer-financed salary in the amount of $74,983 including his salary as Budget officer, lifetime health care coverage from the Boys Club as well, and the $6000 health care opt-out stipend.

These people are not town employees under a union contract. They are elected officials entrusted to give the taxpayers of this town the best bang for our taxpayer buck. Well, they’re banging us all right and we aren’t feeling a darn thing.

Are these officials so impoverished that they need to be paid to opt out of the health care coverage? This taxpayer says, “NO WAY”.

Prudence in the spending of our taxpayer dollars should start with the officials themselves.
