Lancaster Council member acts for self-interest

If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention! The Lancaster Town board that has continuously upset their citizens for seemingly giving the town away to developers has now taken to having their cake and eating it too as well as eating their own.

A councilwoman who was reelected in November resigned the board on December 23, 2007 only to be newly sworn in on January 1, 2008. Actually she was sworn in on December 29, 2007, but the word on the street is the official paperwork was quickly destroyed.

When she was questioned about the swearing in ceremony the Councilwoman responded that it was a token oath she had taken. Token oath? Seems to me anytime we put our hand on the bible in front of the American flag that would be official!

Even Bill Clinton didn’t try that excuse!

But what was the reason behind the resigning for the last 8 days of the year. Sickness? Take sick time, you have lots of it. Personal issues? Take personal time, you have lots of that too?

Use your comp time up, the board won’t compensate you for any unused time when you retire anyhow, but that’s another issue.

What was the reason behind this gap in service? Was it for the good of the town? Did her salary reflect the days she was no longer on the board?

Or was it just another public official whose ego gets so big after another reelection that they feel entitled to change things around for their own benefit at the expense of the taxpayer.

Explain please. Oh, and it’s not a personal issue between you and your husband as you claim, it’s public record.

How did the town benefit from these actions?
