Elderwood Health Care at Linwood celebrated National Centenarian Day, Thursday, September 22, 2005, by honoring resident Lottie McCallum. On September 25, 2005 McCallum will celebrate her 104th birthday.

Invited guests from the Lancaster Town Board also attended the affair and presented Lottie with a Proclamation. Town Supervisor Robert Giza wished McCallum well and Council member Mark Montour read the Town Proclamation to her, family members, residents and guests – numbering over 50 attendees.

WHEREAS, the Town Board of Lancaster, New York congratulate Lottie McCallum as she celebrates her 104th birthday with family and friends at Elderwood Health Care at Linwood, and

WHEREAS, Lottie was born on September 25, 1901 and grew up in Tyre, Michigan. In 1922, Lottie and Ray McCallum were married and have a son Jim who resides with his wife Chris in Florida, and
WHEREAS, Lottie was an employee of Western Electric for 20 years and dedicated her life to the service of others as a volunteer for various organizations such as the American Red Cross, the Handicapped Association, the Blind Association and the Salvation Army and is an honorary lifetime member of the Physically Disabled Association. Throughout her life, Lottie traveled to Italy, Austria, Hawaii, Germany and Florida, and
NOW, THEREFORE, we, the members of the Town Board of the Town of Lancaster, extend our congratulations to you, LOTTIE MCCALLUM on this momentous occasion, and wish you good health and countless blessings.

Brian Reader, Administrator of the Elderwood Health Care at Linwood facility located on Como Park Boulevard in Lancaster paid homage to Lottie and informed her and the guests present:
· Lottie was born in 1901, the year the Pan American Exposition was held in Buffalo, New York. The same year the Cadillac Motor Company was founded and the year Queen Victoria passed away.
· Lottie was born before there was air flight, the first World Series of Baseball was played and the first radio shows were aired.
· She has lived through 19 presidents taking office, the depression, two World Wars and other international conflicts. She has lived through all these and other momentous occasions and prospered.
Therefore, Lottie McCallum, on behalf of the Elderwood Health Care organization, the staff here at Linwood, your family members, your fellow residents and guests, offer our best wishes for many more years of health, happiness and prosperity for you and your family.
Lottie’s family will be hosting another party at Linwood on her official birthday, September 25, 2005.
