TOWNSEND AND TASK FORCE: CUT COSTS RESPONSIBLY FOR STATE'S JAILS
Assemblyman David Townsend (R,WF-Sylvan Beach) visited Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School Wednesday evening to take part in a presentation about cost-containment at New York State's correctional facilities. Assemblyman Townsend listened to testimony and gathered information for the task force's official report, to be issued in Albany in the near future. Safety and staffing for prison employees were discussed as well by representatives from NYSCOPBA. A spokesman for the group noted that while corrections staff working directly with New York’s prison population has declined by 2,500 over the last decade the number of administrative staff personnel has doubled, resulting in high operating costs for state taxpayers.

Lackawanna Council candidate says: Those Who Stand For Nothing, Fall For Anything
"Whenever an election is coming up, all the politicians come out and give you the same
song and dance about the same issues, all the way up until they get elected. Then you don't hear anymore from them until they are up for election again" says Third Ward Council Candidate Dennis Mulqueen. "I believe people are tired of this. There is a great need in our city government right now for honesty. All you have to do is research what a candidate puts in the paper and make sure what they say is true and actually call them out when it isn't."

Ricchiazzi Endorses Kearns
Don't let this year become just another footnote in the history of Buffalo's long decline. Although I will not be on the ballot for Mayor this year, a vote for change is still possible. But it's only possible this Tuesday in the Democratic Party primary. I'd like to take a few minutes of your time to explain why I believe that Councilman Mickey Kearns is our best hope at this juncture of our City's history, and why I'll be supporting him during the remainder of this election cycle.

DAVE TOWNSEND STATEMENT ON GOV’S DECISION TO DROP TAX ON INDIAN SALES
"A recent report indicating that Governor Paterson's administration has quietly 'written off' collecting sales taxes on cigarettes sold to non-tribal customers on New York's Indian reservations is damaging both to the rule of law in the Empire State as well as the state of our finances for the remainder of the fiscal year," said Assemblyman David Townsend (R,WF-Sylvan Beach).

Collins Pushes Legislature to Stop Blocking $200 Million of Development
Innovative economic development measure offers solution to state inaction, certain EC legislators pad resolution with union giveaways.
Erie County Executive Chris Collins today called on the County Legislature to stop blocking more than $200 million of economic development projects in Erie County. The Legislature has failed to act on an Administration resolution that would give the Buffalo and Erie County Industrial Land Development Corporation (ILDC) the ability to issue tax exempt bonds for local not-for-profit organizations looking to finance capital projects. Instead of passing this resolution, certain members of the Legislature are now attempting to use it as a way to steer private construction jobs to organized labor.
