What does Golisano expect in return

The furor that erupted Monday June 6th was caused by two turncoats crossing the line from Democrat to the Republican side in the State Senate causing that body to scurry in all directions.

When it was disclosed that Tom Golisano had a hand in the aisle crossing, I immediately turned my attention to the Buffalo Sabres. I do this because this is a sports site. I wondered why Golisano didn’t invest the several millions of dollars into the Sabres that he did in pumping that dough into the politician’s hands.

First and foremost, let’s face it, Golisano IS NOT a resident of New York State. What business does he have in trying to run the political machine in Albany. Is it because he failed in his quest to become Governor? Did he promise anything to the pair that turned the Senate upside down?

What does Golisano have to gain. After all, he should devote his time and effort to his new city and the state of Florida where he now lives. He doesn’t pay any New York taxes. What gives him the right to dictate how NY state will run its political ways? Not that New York doesn’t need a big boost in morale, confidence…….and jobs. They do.

But the fact remains that the quote in the media was that Golisano saves over $13,000 a day in his move from the state to his new home in Florida. Has anyone heard that he will pump that money into the Buffalo Sabres to get them into the playoffs? Look at the money he saved when he failed to sign Drury, Briere, Campbell, Dumont; Biron and others who left because of front office blunders with the buck stopped at Golisano’s desk.

Instead he’s pumping his money into the New York political arena and the question is…..WHY. Again, he’s not a resident of this state. If he was a solid citizen of the Empire State, maybe that $13,000 a day he’s saving could be put to better use by hiring more policemen; more teachers; help in other areas. Instead, he’s going to keep his hand in New York politics.

The question is there: What does Golisano expect in return for all his maneuverings that resulted in the chaos that clouded Albany.
